The Sights, Sounds, and Tastes Of Autumn

Good morning, Crafty Peeples!
This week at 613 Avenue Create, our Optional Twist is: The sights, sounds, and tastes of Autumn. We, of course, look forward to your Anything Goes entries, but are excited about the wonderful projects we hope will be generated by those playing the Twist!

I love making cards from brown lunch bags.  There are so many little nooks and crannies in which to stuff tags.  In this design, there are pockets on the front that hold two small round tags!
Inside, there is a large space for text (I used a poem).

So Grateful Gift Collection The Final Installment

Good Morning, Crafty Peeples!
So Grateful Gift Collection - "Tamara"
I have completed the Gift Set for my Neurologist.
I plan to give it to her at my appointment on Tuesday.

To make the collection complete, I included a very nice pen set in colors that complement the papers used in the project.  Forgot to take photo and box is now sealed. Oops!

The final component in the collection is this small note carrier.
The ribbon handle allows it to be easily carried or hung on a doorknob or wall hook.
The base of the carrier is Medium weight chipboard.
The pocket is a sponged and stamped 5"x7" Kraft Paper bag.

THE BOX
To create my box, I used a plain white gift box.
Painted with Gesso (both sides) and let it air dry over night.
Alternate layers of distress inks and stains:
Vintage Photo, Peacock Feathers, Rusty Hinge, Mowed Lawn, Picket Fence
In between the layers of inks and stains, I used various script stamps.
Allowed the top to dry overnight and then cover with clear shelf liner.
It produces a rich satin sheen.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

ABC Challenge - Shopping Our Stash!

Good Morning, Crafty Peeples!
This week at Shopping Our Stash, we are challenged to create a project using ABC!  Please let us know what your ABC elements are (ex.: Apple, Boat, Chair).   I needed to send a welcome gift to my Grandson's new teacher, so I took this challenge as an opportunity to do so.  I think my design is close enough to the spirit of the challenge that they won't kick me off the team!
My ABC's are:  Apple, Basket and Bookmarks, Clips and Composition Books.

4th Grade Fun Basket
One benefit of private school is small class sizes.
My grandson's class has 8 students.
Great for the students and the teacher!
Good for me! I could almost get everything into this small basket.
I decided to leave the composition books uncovered and simply applied cute stickers!  A few months ago, I almost dumped the big letter post it notes..glad I didn't.  Making covers for them only took a few seconds.  The composition books I have had for two years.
This challenge helped me deplete some of the kid stuff in my stash.  In addition to the items in the basket, I am sending the school's Art Department a shopping bag full of stickers and paper.

Here is how it was boxed and presented to Ms. Michelle
Lots of tags and journal cards for her along with a big paper clip!

Can't wait to see your spin on our ABC Challenge.
Visit my teammate's blog for additional inspiration!

So Grateful - Dr. Greene's Gift Collection - Part II

Good Morning Crafty Peeps!

The Challenge this week at 613 Avenue Create is:  Anything Goes / With
OPTIONAL TWIST:  Create a Post It Note Holder.  The design team members have created a variety of note holders to inspire those who plan to play the twist this week.

So Grateful - Gift Collection  Part II
(Notepad Holder, Key Chain Tag Mini, Tags, Book Marks)
I still have many pieces to complete.  I thought I would do the "fun" stuff first.
THE BASKET
My first attempt at creating my own designer sheet for a project.
I am so pleased with the outcome!  I had a ball designing this paper.
NOTE PAD HOLDER w/MINI CLIPBOARD

Thanks to hubby, who built a pad press for me a few years back, I was able to customize and pad my own paper.  The note tray holds two gummed pads.  The mini clipboard is functional and works great for little notes!  It also serves as a cover for the note tray.

KEY CHAIN TAG MINI ALBUM
My Shero
Dr. Tamara Greene, M. D. (Neurology)

This mini album started life as an empty Orbitz Chewing Gum Box.
The front of the tags read: smile, love, hope, etc., the backs of the tags are gold!
BOOKMARKS
The bookmarks are covered with clear shelf liner to protect against stains.
AND GIFT TAGS
These are tags that the Doc can use for gifts to family and friends!
Some are embossed and others are stamped.

I have created a box to hold this first group of items. Next, I will tackle the lap desk or the actual stationery sheets, which  are the most laborious, because the stenciling and embossing all have to be done the "old fashion" way....metal stencils, light boxes...you know.

Stationery Gift Set - So Very Grateful - Item #1-Gift Tag

Good Morning, Crafty Peeples

THE CHALLENGE this week at Shopping Our Stash is "Chipping Away".
Chipboard projects are lots of fun and great for getting the old creative juices flowing.   I cut up old cereal boxes, gum packages, washing detergent boxes, etc., and then use the little pieces to cut out buttons, and other shapes for embellishments.  Don't think you have to purchase chipboard.
Check out your pantry and your laundry room!

GIFT TAG
I am creating a Stationery Gift Set for my Neurologist, whom I affectionately call, Dr. House.  She has none of his bad attitude, but is blessed with all of his diagnostic brilliance and I want to thank her in a special way.   I will post the additional pieces as they are completed.  This is a large project and will take a month or more.
Next up:  Gift Item #2 - Slim Book Marks

PROJECT DETAILS

(HINTS for BEGINNERS)
Choose your papers and embellishments BEFORE you color the tag base.
Both sides of the tag are decorated.
Arrange the components of your card face.
Try several configurations to make sure you end up with the tightest presentation.

To create the base:
Cut a piece of medium weight chipboard to 4.25" x 5.50".
Sponge the base, alternating layers of Tim Holtz Vintage Photo and Peacock Feathers DI
until desired color is achieved.  Sponge both sides of the base.
Cut two designer papers to 3.75" x 5.0" and apply to base.
I used the scrap portions for my torn paper elements.

 To create the sentiment panel:
Cut the sentiment panel from a scrap of light weight chipboard.
Sponge using the same DI used on the base.
I layered my sentiment on gold cover cut from the same die.

Decorate the back of the tag:
Cut another small piece of chipboard and sponge to match base and sentiment panels.
Keep the decorations to a minimum so that the tag is not bulky!
Leave ample room for handwritten or stamped text!
Add a bold ribbon to give your project a little zip!

Still need inspiration?  Visit my teammates...they have some wonderful DT Makes!
