 Hello, Crafty Makers!

Straight From The Heart

I love using Distress Oxide Inks, stencils, and graphic stamps to create custom backgrounds.  I purchased a lot of graphic stamps and stencils to create journal pages but I never quite got the hang of journaling (I may have another go at it.) Now, at least, I have a new use for these stash items.

I created my blended background on a piece 5-1/2" x 5-1/2" piece of white card.  I failed to take into consideration that I would be cutting the panel down to 4-0" x 5-1/4", which meant I lost more of the stenciled hearts than I intended.   Fortunately, this worked out just fine.  I think more hearts would have been too much.

The "Love" sentiment is probably my favorite element.  Normally, when I don't have a die for my sentiments, I start with a wide cut that follows the shape of the word sentiment, and then I do a more detailed fussy cut.  In this case, I thought the wide shape would work better so I just left it.

Isn't this little Peacock too cute?
While I was reorganizing my stash, I found six unopened Valentine's Day stamp sets (a total of 81 stamps) that I purchased at Big Lots® back in 2010.  The sets were $2.00 each so I just grabbed one of each.    I apparently purchase six additional sets of general stamps and greetings none of which were ever opened. I think this is why I stopped buying stamps "offseason."  I should have a lot of fun using hearts throughout 2021.
