Box Card- Tuesday Alchemy - Anything Goes

I had so much fun making this box card to hold the corner book tags I am making for my grandson's 2nd grade class.  I figure between now and the end of the school year I should have them all done! This first one is for the teacher.  The one for the kids will be smaller and have a more juvenile design!
There are only 15 Kids in his class, but I am a slow designer.  I have to "feel" my designs.  I M Pei would love me.  I know even a plain blue brad wants to be something! (LOL)
The Image is by "Robyn's Fetish"

I hope you will stop by Tuesday Alchemy and enter a project into the challenge.  The Design Team has come up with some truly wonderful designs for this challenge!

You can find the instructions for the book here: http://valitasfreshfolds.blogspot.com/2010/10/book-lattice-card-front.html

All Heart!

THE OUTLAWZ GREETINGS CHALLENGE

Image "Jar of Hearts" by Bugaboo Stamps
This week at The Outlawz, The Greetings Challenge Team is inviting you to "Show Us Your Hearts". We would love to see your creations we know they will be awesome.  When I saw this jar of hearts image, I figured it would be fun to just color it.  Yesterday I had a coloring session with my grandson, Josh.  A great time was had by all!

I love my Big Shot!  I think it just makes such crisp, sharp embossed  designs!  I put both folders on the  BS at the same time because I wanted my heart to be de-bossed.  The Alignment worked out perfectly and helped with with the final placement of my focal image.  I am so addicted to my BS that I bought a second one in case anything happened to the first one.  I know they won't stop making them, but my second one also had the cool platform that they don't make anymore.  I am so careful with my original platform  I don't like the new ones.  Maybe I should start a petition! :D)
Hope everyone is off to a wonderful start, this week!  Thanks for dropping by!

Black and White and "Read" All Over

I just love the theme of our challenge over at Eclectic Ellapu this week.  We were challenged to create a project using only black and white and "Text".  I thought this was a very creative challenge, the type that forces you to think differently about what you are designing.  Okay, I admit my project is pretty expected and not at all out of the box, but I am convinced that some of you will come up with some pretty amazing designs.  Anyway, I hope you will join in the challenge.

The small book was supposed to have open pages, but I got a little "glue happy" and accidentally glued the entire book shut.  Oh well,  :D)
I know my pages don't look white, but that is because a put TH Old Paper Distress Ink  on some of them.   And the other was the only newsprint pp in my stash so I used it!
Thanks for stopping by!

Never Forget Kindness

This post is not for any challenge, it is just a few words I would like to share with my fellow crafters!

I love being on design teams.  I love doing challenges and chatting with my teammates.  But, on a few rare occasions, I have found that some people tend to forget that we are all volunteers on these teams.  It would different if we were working for Spellbinder's or Sizzix or any of the large companies, but most of us are not and it is very sad when Owners and DT coordinators lose sight of this.

I just want to remind all of us who are "volunteering" in leadership roles that this is supposed to be fun and if you find it necessary to demean other crafters, then maybe you should examine where you are right now.  It could be that the fun has gone out of it for you and not for everybody else.

This is a hobby, not a job, so please, let us Never Forget to be Kind to one Another.

Chana

Tim Holtz-12 Tags of 2013 - Outlawz Greetings Challenge

The Outlawz Greetings Challenge - Anything Goes

Hi, Cardies!  Well, my Atlanta Falcons will not be in the Super Bowl, again!  But, my candidate won the election, and I thoroughly enjoyed the "laid back" inaugural festivities   Also enjoyed the memories of Dr. King, so, I guess two out of three is not bad!  This has been a wonderful Day.  Almost made me forget how much I don't like the San Francisco 49ers..almost!

In my crafting life, I decided this year I would attempt to do the Tim Holtz 12 Tags.  Don't know if I will make all 12 Months, but I did like the January tag,  Fortunately, the Outlawz Greetings Challenge is Anything Goes so this worked perfectly!

I stamped a length of seam binding (as shown in Tim's tutorial) and then colored it with all the inks I used in my card and it turned out pretty cool.  I used the same colors on the scrap of book page.   I did not want to recreate the tag that Tim made in his tutorial, but I was inspired to use a clock face embossing folder for my project.   Looking forward to next month's inspiration.   Oh well, I'm now off to start cutting slits in the top of all my embossing folders (LOL)

Here's what I used:

Embossing: Couture Creations' Timepiece (Their embossing folder already had the slit, so I did not have to cut mine as Tim recommended in his tutorial.)

Distress Inks:  Iced Spruce, Stormy Sky, Rusty Hinge and Gathered Twigs and Walnut Stain.

Emphemra:  (Clock Faces and 9-5)) Pink Paislee - Vintage Vogue

Gears:  Chipboard (Metallic Green) Petaloo Color Me Crazy  (Painted with Deco Art's Festive Green Metallic Paint)

Metal Gear and Game Spinners: Tim Holtz's Ideology

Wooden Button: Prima Buttons;  Flower Brad beneath Button:  K&Company

I stamped a length of seam binding (as shown in Tim's tutorial) and then colored it with all the inks I used in my card and it turned out pretty cool.  I used the same colors on the book page.   I did not want to copy Tim's project item for item, but I did like the idea of the using a clock face to emboss the tag.  Looking forward to next month's inspiration.   Oh well, I'm now off to start cutting slits in the top of all my embossing folders (LOL)

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope to see your work in the following challenges:

It's All A Little Spotty!

Guylou's Inimitability:  I See Spots!

We have a fun challenge over at Guylou's Inimitability this week!  Spots!  Thats right, ladies, spots.  So go ahead and whip out those Swiss Dots and Circles embossing folders and create something that amazes us!   All of us have some "ugly" spotted pattern paper that we have shoved to the back of our stash and now is the time to recognize that you are a creative force to be reckoned with.  No paper, no matter how ugly can get the best of you!

Here's my project!  I don't own any ugly papers!  (LOL)

I really like step cards.  The are fun to work with and are a great platform to showcase other techniques and folds.

It All Works Out In The End

I saw a tutorial for this card and I thought it was so cute!  This week at Artistic Inspirations it's Anything Goes and our sponsor is Bugaboo Stamps!  I paired my Bugaboo stamp with Unity Stamp Company and Gina K sentiments.  I am working on creating shabby/vintage projects and this layout seemed to lend itself to this genre.   My husband said, "This looks old.  Is it supposed to look old?"  I was smiling.  I guess my shabby/vintage is improving.  Now if I can just remember to to put the adhesive on the right side so that my newsprint is right side up!!!  (LOL)

Everything on this project is older than six months...except the little key embellishment it is only two months old.

My Posting is a little late because this is my first prolonged time out of bed for the past five days!  I hope you will jump over to the challenge and play along!

A Different Point of View - Eclectic Ellapu

Electic Ellapu - Recipe Challenge: 1 Die Cut, 2 Patterned Papers, Ribbon

My teammates over at Electic Ellapu have created some truly wonderful projects using Laurian's recipe for this challenge.   Stop by and enter a project in the challenge.  Any project qualifies, so if you have a 3D project or Mixed Media, or scrap page, we would love to see it.

This is my first side step card and I had a great deal of fun pulling it together.  I wanted to use the sentiment, but was unsure of an image to use.  I finally decided that a side step card would allow me to use several images from  Technique Tuesday's All Aboard  Stamp Set.

I think 2013 is my year of  "a new way of seeing things."  It may just be that I am getting older and that age alters our spiritual eyesight, or it may be that my experiences in the three years preceding this one have stripped the facade from some once admired people and beliefs.  The beauty of it is, all that has happened has sharpened my view of G-d and concretized for me the fact that he and he alone stands constant as a present help.

Thanks for stopping by!  As always, I invite you to join me at my two new challenge blogs:

Savor The Moments - Tuesday Alchemy

Tuesday Alchemy - Hopes, Dreams and/or Resolutions

I don't think I got off to the best of starts with my new team, Tuesday Alchemy.  First, I misread the sponsor.  I want to apologize to Guylou Inimitability the actual sponsor of the challenge.  I am on Guylou's DT and I would never intentionally not use her image in a challenge she sponsors.  I would also like to apologize to my teammates at TA.  I am not usually so dippy.

I am so happy about my selection to the Design Team for Tuesday Alchemy.  They always have interesting challenges, but in the past, I was not able to enter as many as I would like because my cards did not fit their criteria....problem solved!

I made this card for my sister who recently celebrated her 92nd Birthday.  It was such a sweet ending to the year.  My Sister turned 92 on December 24th and my new little granddaughter, Michaela Elise, was born on December 28th.  My hope and dream is that I will have the days of life that have been granted to my sister and to my grandmother who lived to be 110 years old.  I would love to be around to see all my grandchildren grow up, graduate college, get married and who knows what after that.

I also have hopes for my crafting.  I resolve to do all I can to enjoy my hobby without allowing it to take over my life!

Happy New Year  and thanks for stopping by!!

Hugz, Chana

This is my very first brown paper bag card.  I know I will be making others!
I used lightweight chipboard covered with Kraft paper so the card will stand!
I really love all the pockets for tags on this type card.
I added this tag and gift card holder to the back.

This project will be entered in these challenges:

Hello and Happy New Year to All!  May this year for you be filled with joy, peace, blessings and delight!  Over at Artistic Inspirations, we are continuing our Anything Goes Challenge.  Apparently, I did not get my project uploaded in time so it is not showing up on the main blog post, but since I made the project, I figured I would go ahead and post it here.
