The Outlawz Greetings Challenge - Anything Goes

Good Morning, Crafty Peeples!
I have a quick post today for the Anything Goes Challenge over at The Outlawz.  The Greetings Team has made the last challenge of each month Anything Goes.   I like it because the Design Team members get to create freely and I have a chance to learn more about them as designers.  The projects this week are just fabulous.  I was seriously impressed.

Our sponsor this week is:
The Image I am using for my project is from Inky Impressions stamps.  I wanted to post a project this week, and since I already had this image colored up (and it was almost a perfect match for my card stock and DP) I decided to use it.

I rubbed just a little too hard on my tissue paper while executing the "Faux Silk" technique.  The tissues tore in a couple of places and I had to "improvise".  I didn't have time to color another image and start over so I just went with it.
I was attempting to create a distressed "faux silk" layer behind the image panel...like a piece of crumpled silk fabric.  My ever observant husband asked,
"What is this challenge?  Stamp on crumpled up tissue paper? "
"No, dear," I replied, "this is supposed to be a faux silk look."
"Oh yeah," came his reply.  "Like that blouse you bought that wrinkles up as soon as you put it on.  Well I guess you got this faux silk thing down pat!"  (Laughter, laughter, laughter)

Simple inside.  Red is such a strong color it really does not need a lot of help.  The DP strip across the top covers the brad prongs.  In spite of my tissue paper boo boo, I really like this card.

Thanks for stopping by.  I hope to see you at the Outlawz Challenges.

The Dust of Life

Hello, Crafty Peeps,

I have been away from my blog for over two weeks.  I am one of those who suffers with migraine headaches and, as if that were not bad enough, I also have Meniere's Disease (an inner ear disorder). This time they both decided to strike at the same time.  Couple these two with my allergies which caused my face to swell up so much that my eyes became just tiny little slits and you can imagine how much fun I have had the past two weeks.   Thank goodness for better living through chemistry.  At least they give you drugs that put you to sleep.  :D)

This card was intended to post two weeks ago, but I never made it back into my studio, so I am posting it today.  It seems quite appropriate.  This is my first day back, I am so far behind on everything it is not funny, and yet,  I am pain free, happy and ready to shake off the dust!

It was a pleasant surprise to find that my honeycomb embossing folder was a perfect match for the honeycomb designer paper used in this project.

Greens are difficult to match, but I thought the shades here worked together fairly well.  Threading the button with strips of the DP helped maintain the continuity and vertical flow of the design.
As usual, I kept the inside simple.  I think handwritten notes are much more personal and well suited to handmade greeting cards.

Inky Impressions Stamps - Inky Inspirations Blog -Happy Birthday

Good Morning, Crafty Peeps!

This week I opted to make a simple birthday card for a little lady turning 5 years old.   I find kids cards particularly challenging, however, this sweet image made my creating extra easy and extra fun.

My chalk blue sky did not photograph so well, but it looks great IRL!
I really enjoy mixing stripes and dots.  The image was colored with Copics.
Red Card Stock: Neenah #80 Linen CS - Red Pepper
Green Card Stock:  Bazzill Textured CS #80
Designer Papers:  My Mind's Eye:  Happy Day
Ribbon:  Really Reasonable Ribbon

I kept the inside simple, since I plan to enclose a little monetary gift.
I repeated the ribbon border and added a little butterfly sticker.
Rubber Stamped Sentiment:  Just Rite Stamps

Thanks for stopping by!  As always I hope you have found a small glimmer of inspiration.  I am working on a new tutorial and hope to have it ready by next week!
