What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday #611

Hello, All!
I am so happy to be able to post this Wednesday.  Life has thrown a few curves but isn't that what makes it fun?  For those of you who are not familiar with WOYWW, please check out this "never-ending blog hop at Stamping Ground.
I was very sorry to hear that a long-time WOYWW member, Shaz Silverwolf,  succumbed to cancer last weekend.  My condolences to those who knew her well and shared so many WOYWW memories with her over the past ten years. May G-d comfort each and every one of you.
Each week, I try to plan my crafting projects.  I gather all the components that I plan to use and I complete my Project Planner sheet.  I want to use this background sheet to create a fairy-themed card.
I am still working on using "never touched" stamps, dies, etc., in my stash.  I have had these Just Right® stamps for twelve or thirteen years.  They are not fancy or trending but I think I will be inspired in so many ways once I put ink to stamp and stamp to paper.
Of course, I have to use my stickers to decorate my planning pages.  I don't put much on these project planners.  Normally, by the time I have the project all planned out, I have written all over the page.  Perhaps, by next Wednesday, this project will be completed.

Given the foolishness that continues here in America, particularly in my home state of Georgia, regarding our election laws, I often find myself struggling to avoid becoming a flat-out cynic!  So I offer up one of my favorite poems.
Chemical Lament
(Sorry, I don't remember the name of the author)

All term he struggled through the course,
he was a nervous wreck.
He'd acid burns upon his nose,
and boils upon his neck.

His hair was turning blue and green,
from litmus tests, you see.
His eyes were shot
with lurid streaks of blo2d.

But when at last exam time came,
He knew he was prepared.
The test for him would be a cinch,
No reason to be scared.

He knew the allotrophic forms
of alcohol and gas.
And he could take the atom count
in any drinking glass.

He knew how many molecules
were present in the air,
and who discovered Strontium
and how and when, and where.

But when the tests were handed out,
he died, from shock or woe,
The fatal query put to him was
What is H20?

Thanks for stopping by!
Chana Malkah

  1. Sorry to hear about your friend. I look forward to seeing what you do with those fun supplies.

  2. I so admire your planning, as for your desk!!! Sorry couldn't work like that haha. Your poem is hilarious and very clever too.
    Faith x

  3. Lol...had to laugh at the H20! It's so much fun to see that I'm not the only one with a mess on my desk! Thanks for sharing with us, Chana! I'm so sorry to hear about your friend. Cancer is such a mean and ugly disease. Hope they someday find a cure. I lost one of my workshop participants last Friday, due to pneumonia. She was very talented, and will be missed. The weather is SO cold here - had 9 degrees this a.m., which was better than yesterday's -6! However, it's snowing hard...again! We had a half inch of ice on the ground, followed by 11" of fresh snow, and it's snowing again today! Stay warm and healthy!

  4. Hello across the pond! I love your planning pages. Did you download them from somewhere? I often use the Simple Stories ones for my scrapbooking when I'm going on retreat (which feels like a hundred years ago now)! Much love on this difficult day, Lisa-Jane #7

  5. Shaz has been mentioned so many times today, great memories and a fitting epitaph to the awesome person she was. How great that you’re using old stash, gives a good deal of satisfaction. And the poem made me laugh!
    Hugs LLJ 9 xxx

  6. Love your desk planner and hope to see the finished card next week CHana. Thanks for your visit. Stay safe. Sarah #6

  7. Yes, there are a lot of us left with a hole in our hearts following the tragic news of last Saturday.
Lovely to see your planning and hope to see your completed page next week.
    Hugs, Neet 17 x

  8. Lovely desk planner, and that's a gorgeous background for a fairy themed card. The poem made me laugh - I think that is what we have all needed today - thank you.
Have a good week, and stay safe and well,
    Diana xx #22

  9. Chana, I envy your planning pages!! I have a planner, but sadly it is not as nifty as yours!! I don't "do" planners like some crafters do. I merely use mine for notes and doctors appointments. I have never gotten into the junk journal, planner creating things. Mostly reason being, I, like you, would have written all over and through it before it was over and messed it all up!! LOLOL I love that you are trying to use up some of that stash that you have had tucked away! We could all do that I am sure. You know, that "thing" you just had to have!! LOL Look forward to seeing some new and fresh projects from your old stash! LOL Many blessings to you and happy crafting! Felicia #34

  10. There is a Shaz sized hole everywhere.... It is heartwarming to read so many tributes and fond memories. Helen #2

  11. Looks like you have great ideas and supplies for your planner. Had a lovely giggle with your poem. Have a lovely creative week.
    Sandra de @28

  12. Shaz will never have really left us because her blog will keep her alive for us and I can tell you it wont be the last time I pop over there for some ideas when I get stuck, God Bless her. Your planning journal is a great idea, most of my plans happen on a piece of scrap paper Lol! Have a lovely creative woyww, Angela,x18x

  13. Hi Chana, great planner - I would love to plan what I intend to make, but I never know until I sit down. I do like the planner sheets though! Love the poem. Have a great week, Heather xx #19

  14. Hi Chana. I just LOVE that poem!!! It just says everything, really. I pray for your nation at this time in history, that G-d will meet with you and bring His life into the situations.
You are SO organized with planning your projects. Any planning on my part is usually something like "100 cards for hotel" written on my daily to-do list! I like the background you have there for your fairy stamping. Enjoy.
    Take care, G-d bless.
    Margaret #29

  15. Chana you are so good to keep your crafting ideas and to do's all in one planner, mine are all over the place with good intentions to group them up the plan never comes together for me. I hope you get to be where you want to be with it soon.
The poem made me smile too, we all need our spirits raised today after the sad news about Shaz. Best wishes this woyww & take care Tracey 3 x

  16. Thank you for your visit and lovely comment,

I would love to plan things but it never seems to work like that for me, I have found things that I forgot i had and its fun using them Great Lament,

Take cwsre and stay safe ,Lilian B #14

  17. Love your planner - so organized! And the poem made me smile, which was sorely needed this week when we lost a dear and treasured member of our WOYWW family when we lost Shaz. The world is a poorer place for it. I read the news and kinda want to kick Joe Manchin (and Kyrsten Sinema, while I'm at it, and maybe Dianne Feinstein as well!) to convince them the filibuster must go so they can pass the voting rights bill! Crazy they cannot see that this is a once in a lifetime chance to address the voter suppression Republican led state legislatures will try to ram thru as quick as they can! Off my soapbox now - keep fighting the good fight!

Hugs to all on a sad WOYWW week.

  18. Hi Chana, yes definitely give the teabags a try - just use the ones that your hubs discards after brewing them - that way he won't miss anything and they will have a nice vintage tint to them. Your planner looks fun! Thanks for stopping by earlier xx zsuzsa #31

  19. I join the others in feeling devastated at the loss of our beloved Shaz. I still can't believe she's gone and will never again post on her fabulous blog. I am glad Doug is keeping it going so that we can all continue to benefit from it, and it will be a lovely memorial to a very talented crafter and a very special lady. I shall never, ever forget her kindness and generosity to me in the help and support she gave me when I was undergoing my own cancer treatment.

I think you are amazing, being so organised and planning your projects! I'm afraid I never do that - apart from my knitting/crochet/embroidery ones I suppose. My papercrafting stuff is always a total mess - I'm a very messy worker I'm afraid, and projects just seem to develop in the way they want, often coming out completely differently from how I originally thought they would! Oh well.

Thank you for your lovely comment - I thought of you when I uploaded the Hebrew designs, and I am so glad you liked them. I'm really happy that you enjoy visiting my blog so much. Yes, the blender issue is now resolved - at least I now have it working again, and it will serve as a spare. You are right, kale's voice definitely needs to be silenced!

If you click on the "Contact Shoshi" link in my header, you should be able to send me an email from there. Thank you for finding the recipe for me, and I look forward to receiving it!

May G-d bless you richly, Chana.
    Happy belated WOYWW,
    Shoshi x #25

  20. Chana....planning!! a wow, I am super impressed, it makes my desk work look very slapdash and thrown together! If you’re using stash for the first time, you may like to know about Darnell’s NBUS challenge (never before used Stuff), she blogs at and is a hoot at talking about her NBUS! The voting law thing really rumbles on for you Georgians, I loved the poem, made me laugh!

  21. Hi Chana, thanks for popping by. Sorry I'm late! Even in Lockdown life gets busy. I should plan more, always had to when I was teaching but not anymore, should use up stash - am trying lol. Take care Anne x 33

  22. Sorry for the late visit. I thought things were quieter about the election results now. So much turmoil, it was much the same over her about Brexit, even after the decision had been made. I saw Julia’s comment and since I have a lot of unused Stuff too, maybe I will see you there. Angela #21

  23. I love the desk, totally organised, (just Like me...not!} I should plan more! The poem was brilliant, very funny!

Keep Crafting! Stay Safe! sorry late WOYWW ((Lyn)) #13
