Hello, Crafty People!
It is time for our weekly WOYWW blog hop! I have several projects on my desk this week. I had to move my candlemaking supplies downstairs to the breakfast room because I could not plug another piece of equipment into the wall in my studio.
My recent obsession with candlemaking is, subconsciously, the physical manifestation of my prayer to Hashem, asking that darkness not overtake the world. "This Little Light of Mine!" Let it Shine.
My daughter's boss and his wife were out of the country during the holidays, and I have been working on a gift for my daughter to give to the wife when they return. She saw my alcohol ink cards and fell in love with them. I have included one or two of those in her gift, but I also wanted to create notecards that would be unique to her, using her favorite colors!
I created the notecards on watercolor paper, wanting the backgrounds to look like a color wash. After the paint dried, I added metallic paint to elevate the design. My photography does not do justice to the design.
They travel often, as do many of their friends, so I included a Bon Voyage card.
I had to include a candle. I am giving candles to all my family and friends. This one is "Sweet Orange."
And, of course, my little brown bag. These have become a big hit in my family circle!
That is my desk this week! Thanks for stopping by, and I hope you will join our little hop! It is fun!
Hugz,
Chana Malkah
You are kind making all those wonderful things for your daughter’s boss, I’m sure they’ll be much appreciated. You have some fab items to share this week but my absolute favourite is the decorated brown paper bag in the last shot, that works so well!!

Thanks, Jan! My brown bags have become a "thing" with my family and friends. I can't deliver anything to anyone unless I put it in a decorated bag. I am glad you like it. The bags are fun to create!
DeleteYou are so thoughtful making presents for your daughter’s boss’s wife! They are so gorgeous. I’m intrigued to see your decorated brown paper bags as well. Your candles look to be great gifts too.

ReplyDeleteLovely notecards and how nice to make a gift for your daughter to give. I am intrigued by the candle making. How to you buy your wax? I have seen it sold in pellet form. Do you colour the wax and add scent? Candles always make lovely gifts. Happy WOYWW. Angela #13
Thanks, Angela! Going back to your blog to answer about the candlemaking!
DeleteI've never made candles but that sounds as though it would smell gorgeous. Love the gifts you created. Happy WOYWW Helen #1
ReplyDeleteThanks, Helen. The sweet orange essential oil is wonderful. I have yet to find it in a larger size, so I use it sparingly!
DeleteLoving the candles especially the purple and what a super thoughtful gift you've made too. Hugs BJ#5
ReplyDeleteThanks, BJ!
DeleteSorry I'm so late, started off okay this morning but the cold got the better of me just felt really tired and been to sleep for most of the day so trying to catch up. Looks like you've been busy and great results. Wishing you a very happy woyww, hugs Angela x10x
ReplyDeleteNo worries, no time frame. Glad you took the time to visit. Take care of yourself, resting is the best thing you can do!
DeleteI think I am just getting in on Wednesday although it is already 9am Thursday here in Australia. That is a very thoughtful gift and love the brown bag. Lots to see on your page today! Happy WOYWW! Susan #9
ReplyDeleteThanks, Susan! I always feel that I am late when I join the hop!
DeleteWow, Chana, how generous and thoughtful a gift for your daughter to give, love that you took the time to find the lady's favourite colours and made cards that were appropriate for her, I know how well they'll be received. The candles and the need for light, totally get it. On a more earthly note...I also get that not being able to plug 🔌 one more thing in!!
ReplyDeleteMy husband put a Fire Extinquisher in my Studio!
DeleteOn behalf of Mary Anne. Let's see if this works - I seem to get Failed to Publish messages when I try to comment on your blog, no idea why! Anyway, the alcohol ink cards are lovely, not surprised she loves them. I bet that candle smells lovely too - Yum. And yeah, i worry abut the power strips getting overloaded but luckily I can't use a heat gun, a glue gun, and a die cut machine all at the same time LOL!
ReplyDeleteHappy WOYWW!

Thanks, Mary Anne!
DeleteWhat a beautiful selection of cards and gifts you have created Chana. It is interesting to see the candle making equipment and process. Stay safe and Happy WOYWW. Sarah
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sarah!
DeleteWhat a delightful blog post. So that is what a candle making kit looks like, enjoy your candle making!
ReplyDeleteGreat set of cards for your daughter, love the AI ones. It's nice to have pleasure in making something that gives joy to others isn't it?
Hugs, Neet xx
Thanks, Neet! I am always humbled by people's reaction to handmade gifts! I think of crafters as so many little "points of light!"
DeleteSorry Wednesday got away from me so I am playing catch up (as always).
ReplyDeleteLovely idea to gift a set of cards - I did that for a friend once and she
got very emotional!! Have a great week, love n hugs Cindyxx #12
Thanks, Cindy! I think people are touched when someone takes time out of their lives to create a special gift for them.
DeleteLots of lovely cards that I know will be appreciated! And candles! I learned recently that scented candles are very bad for asthma (which I have) but soy or coconut candles are fine, so I have donated all my scented regular candles. Luckily a friend of mine makes soy candles, so I'm set! Just a thought in case any of your friends have asthma. Have a wonderful week, Lindart #14
ReplyDeleteThanks, Linda. I did not know that. I always use Soy to create my candles. To make unscented candles, you just leave off the essential oil but you can still add color. I have made a few beeswax candles and a beeswax and soy mix. Those are nice, too!

ReplyDeleteThanks, Rajani!
DeleteA beautiful gift of gorgeous cards Chana, I'm sure she loved them. As for the candle, so lovely with its lovely gift bag. I made candles and sold them at craft fairs many years ago, I loved making them, but a house move stopped me doing it. Enjoy your lovely hobbies, even though you don't have enough plugs, hahaha. x
