JANUARY 2026 - A PLACE TO START - ANYTHING GOES w/Optional Twist: Rainbows (Lots of Colors)
Happy New Year, Crafty Makers!
Over at A Place to Start, we decided to start the New Year off with HOPE!
Optional Theme: Rainbows - Lots of Colors
Your project does not have to be a rainbow; we just want to see lots of colors!
I created this card for my granddaughter, who celebrated her 13th Birthday on December 27th. My son flew down for the holidays, but the kids had other plans, so this card and her gifts are going back with her Dad. After I completed the card and showed it to my son, he reminded me that her favorite color is lavender and her older sister's favorite color is pink.
I recreated the card in her favorite color, but switched to gold-foiled straws because they seem to work best with the lavender.
I also added a bit more color to the confetti background and brushed on some gold shimmer paint.
RAINBOW LOTS OF COLORS
This card best captures our theme of lots of colors! The colorful straws and the confetti splatter are bright, cheery, and hopeful!
I used liquid watercolor inks to color the vellum flower.
Your cards are beautiful Chana! So fun and creative using the straws for embellishing. And wow, the water color, vellum flowers are amazing! Lots of dimension and texture on them. I love the pink one and I'm sure your granddaughter was thrilled with her lavender card.
These are just SPLENDID sis! Happy and safe (?) New Year to you and yours. We're always thrilled to see each entry arrive in our mailbox at 613 Avenue Create. We do hope you'll return! Wishing you the very best of luck with your entry. Warm Wishes, Jackie, DT member at 613 xx
Gorgeous cards. The pink one is super cute and very colourful. And of the lavender one the contrast with the golden tones is awesome and highlights the purple ones a lot. Hugs, María.
I love your birthday card....no matter what color it turned out to be!! Both are really adorable and perfect for that age!! Lots of color, lots of texture and I'm sure lots of love went into making it!! Thank you very much for sharing this at PIP Challenges this week!
The mix of bold color, playful texture, and those clever paper straws creates such an energetic celebration on both versions of your design. The vellum flower is especially striking with its soft watercolor glow, and the added shimmer on the lavender card gives it such a polished, festive finish. A wonderful way to open the year with joy and creativity.
