Hello, Crafty Peoples!
The optional twist at 613 Avenue Create is
A Mood Board.
Of course, you can always play
Anything Goes!
I like this mood board because it challenges the cardmaker to find a unique way to use very pedestrian colors. Pink, green, and brown are often used in combination, so the true challenge is finding interesting ways to combine them.
Un-Ruffled
I decided to make the feather the central theme of my project. I followed a Tracy Evans tutorial for the background and layout. I used stamps from my stash, and I also created a couple of elements.
The background was created by applying Distress Ink™ and Turquois Bursho™ directly to an acrylic block, spritzing it lightly with water, and then placing the block onto the card panel.
In 2000, I purchased a bevy of Martha Stewart Clear Stamps. This is only the second time that I have used a stamp from the Birds set. My new affinity for mixed media cards has energized me to look at my stamps in a very different and exciting light.
I have had this Feathers Stamp set in my stash for about six or seven years. It is a favorite set that has not been used for a while. I purchased the bold alphabet background stamp from AliExpress, but it is available on Amazon.
I liked the idea of the scroll that Tracy used on her card, but I am back in my no spending mode, so I had to figure out how to create my own.
I downloaded and resized this scroll gif image in Photoshop®. The scroll was watercolored with Vintage Photo Distress Oxide and then I adhered torn scraps of old book pages. I just played around with it until it had the aged look I wanted. I found two mini brads and used those to attach a sentiment strip to the scroll.
I wanted to pull in a little more of the pink color from the mood board, so I used my wax sealing kit to create a pink medallion. The tree was colored with a metallic pen.
I kept the inside very simple!
When I started this project, I had no idea where I was going. I created the background and then just scrounged around in my stash to find comparable items to those used in the tutorial. I must say that I am growing more and more comfortable creating oversized cards.
Thanks for stopping by, and I hope to see your work in the challenge at 613 Avenue Create!
