MIXED MEDIA BACKGROUND USING LEDGER PAPER

BS"D
Hello, Crafty Makers!

I created this card last week, Along with several other mixed-media projects!  I used some old ledger paper as the starting point for my background!  I was pleased with how this turned out!
I had large sections of paper left over to use on other projects!  I am toying with the idea of leaving the pages in the bound book and creating an art journal.  That might be super cool!  The sunburst page was made from a blank journal sheet.  I had a journal entry stamp in my stash so I used that.  The handwritten page is an old one from my business back in 1981!
This was the first card on which I used my waxed thread!  It is a nice way to add an organic element to my cards.  I have a lot of waxed thread, so...  My mushroom stamp is an NBUS item.  I may attempt to color it the next time I use it on a project!  This time, I added a few colored crystals.

What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday #821

 Hello, Crafty Friends!

This post is late, late, late! I will come back later and clean it up. I just need to get my WOYWW pictures posted! What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday is a fun blog hop! The hop is hosted by Sarah over at Sarah's Craft Shed.

I have quite a few things on my desk today. I made a quick video to show you the goodies. Creatively, I am playing around with a technique called "Blackout Art" on printed paper. In simple terms, the process is to emboss on patterned paper and then rub black ink across the top!

This is my first attempt. I added a little color to the flowers and a few stems. I do not know where I am going with this, but I love how this panel turned out! Even The Hubster was impressed!

I am off to get this posted to WOYWW! I will expand this post later today!

Embrace This Moment - Butterfly and Mixed-Media Background

 Hello, Crafty People!

I have so much fun learning how to create more interesting mixed-media backgrounds.  For now, I am staying with my blues and browns, but I plan to branch out and attempt more daring color combinations.  This project allowed me to use one of my favorite stamps and die sets. I found the set on AliExpress a few years ago.  The die set includes the full butterfly and the single-wing side view.  There are accompanying stamps for each die and four sentiment stamps!

I stamped the image onto my card face and onto a sheet of cardstock.  I die-cut the cardstock version and a piece of craft foam to place beneath the wing.  I used ink-smooching to color the wing before gluing it to the craft foam.  I used double-sided foam tape to mount the image.  The visual impact is fantastic!
I keep the inside simple!  I was happy to find this little butterfly in my stash!

Become The Light - Handmade Watercolor Paper

BS"D

Hello, Crafty Makers

This card creation continues my efforts to become better at creating mixed-media projects!  I want to start art journaling, and the ability to create interesting backgrounds is key.  Since card fronts are a more miniature landscape than a journal page, they would be the best place to practice my mixed-media techniques.
I have fallen all the way in love with the technique of using black-and-white stamped images on my colored mixed-media backgrounds! The presentation is dramatic and visually pleasing!

Another "organic" technique I like is adding waxed leather thread to my projects.  I have almost 60 rolls of this thread (I use it for bookbinding), and I am always looking for new ways to use it!  This particular thread was a perfect match to the Salvaged Patina Distress Oxide Ink!   I was also fortunate to find that one of my wallpaper card scraps matched perfectly with the Rusty Hinge Distress Oxide.

WOYWW #819 - More Mixed Media - Keep Looking Up

Happy Wednesday!
We would love to have you join us at WOYWW.  Just click the link and hop over to Sarah's blog.

It is amazing how a week can feel both long and short!
Hello, WOYWW Hoppers!
I had hoped to complete my studio before I needed to post, but I was distracted by the late Chadwick Boseman, Idris Elba, and Denzel Washington!  They could read the phonebook, and I would be just fine with it!
I did manage to get some crafting done.  I completed these three mixed-media projects.

Tuesday night found me working on this Mixed Media Project.
I need to use different software for my photos.  My current software does a lousy job with .heic photo files.  Why does technology keep forcing me to learn new things?

So, last week, when I posted the video of my studio, someone mentioned that they couldn't really see my "actual work" area. I took a couple of pictures. This is where I do most of my work!  But I have four "actual" workstations!
Working on my dragon-fly mixed media project.  I also have a Valentine's Card to finish before Friday.  I don't celebrate Valentine's Day; I almost forgot this order! You can see the keyboard for my iMac, Which sits on a riser; on the right, you can see my iPad.  I usually watch movies and listen to audiobooks on the iPad while working.
New water brushes, brayers, and Pop of Colors!  I record my reviews here!  It is also my Silhouette cutting station!

That's it for me for now!  It is 3:00am, and I am going to bed.  I will visit everyone later today!

"JUST SOAR" BACKGROUND STAMPING & NEVER BEEN USED

BS" D

Hello, Crafty Makers!

Last week, undaunted by past failures, I again embarked on a campaign to restore the practical, well-organized space that once was "my studio!" On the positive side, I made some progress, and I will keep that a secret until the reveal on the next WOYWW (What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday) Blog Hop!

😲On the negative side, I became distracted by discovering many fabulous stamps and dies I have never used. Naturally, I had to remedy that situation. Before I knew it, I was "creating." The Hubster stuck his head in for a few seconds, smiled, and realized my temporary "organizing" madness had passed. He left, knowing all had returned to normal.

NBUS Items: Watercolor Paper, Background Stamp, Rusty Hinge, and Uncharted Mariner  Distress Inks.
I have owned this background stamp for at least five or six years...never touched it! After playing around with my distress inks, I wanted to use this stamp for a technique that works so well with the Lavinia Stamps. I can't afford too many Lavinia Stamps, so I had to make it work with what I have.

The technique is simple. Color your background, add your background stamp (black works best), and then cut out the bold design you want to highlight. Here is a link to "Papercrafting With Lou Collins."  I use her videos to get ideas for mixed media backgrounds!

Create Art

NBUS Items: Dragonfly Background Stamp, Watercolor Paper, Flatback Crystals, Ranger Butterscotch Color Wash

Of course, I had to play with the highlight. I wanted to pull out one of the colors from my background. I found a piece of cardstock that closely matched the Kitsch Flamingo Distress Oxide Ink.
Distress Inks: Salvaged Patina, Kitsch Flamingo, Uncharted Mariner
I was delighted to "rediscover" these beautiful crystal embellishments. They were a promotional item I reviewed early last year, and I had totally forgotten about them. They are gorgeous! The picture does not do them justice.

There is a NBUS challenge! I may enter!

What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday #818 : Chaos, Confusion, and A New Machine

BS"D

Hello, WOYWWers!
I had to take a brief break because I had a little health scare. Thank G-d, everything is okay! I have videos for you this week!
For those who may not know, the WOYWW blog hop is a weekly hop for all crafts. We visit each other's blogs and share inspiration, stories, pictures, and crafts! It is a fun group. Check it out; you may decide to join in. We sure hope so! Sarah is our gracious host. You can link up at her blog.

Liene Photo Sticker Printer and Cutter
When my husband saw this box, he shook his head and walked away!
I like this printer/cutter. The 4"x7" paper size is perfect for creating sticker sheets I can keep in my planner. The machine is fast, and the colors are good. The adhesive needs to be stronger, but since I mostly put my stickers on paper, I am not concerned about adhesion at this stage.

A PLACE TO START - FEBRUARY: THINGS IN THE SKY!_THE ONES THAT GOT AWAY!

 BS"D

Hello, Crafty Makers!

I made this card as a mid-month project for our  January challenge theme: Add A Balloon.   I never posted it, which worked out well because I am still struggling with my project for this month's theme:

Things In The Sky!

The Ones That Got Away!

This is one of my wallpaper cards, but unfortunately, the paper did not photograph well.  I repeated the paper pattern on the blue balloon!

In this shot, the wallpaper square behind the circle is visible!

Be My Valentine - Another Alcohol Panel

BS"D
 Hello, Crafty People!
I had two panels left from my Christmas notecard projects, so I wanted to experiment with creating stenciled backgrounds on my panel cards. They turned out okay!  This was a first try, so I will have to keep working on it!
I was able to match Distress Ink colors with my Alcohol Ink colors.  I don't usually do "busy" backgrounds, but I like this one.  I would like it better if I did not have that large purple spot on the panel, but these were "scraps," so...
This second card was used in a product review video! The background on this one is "vintage postal."

I am working on my "wallpaper" cards and hope to have a few to post by Wednesday next week!  Wish me luck!

Thanks for stopping by!
