Hello, Crafty Makers!
Last week, undaunted by past failures, I again embarked on a campaign to restore the practical, well-organized space that once was "my studio!" On the positive side, I made some progress, and I will keep that a secret until the reveal on the next WOYWW (What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday) Blog Hop!
😲On the negative side, I became distracted by discovering many fabulous stamps and dies I have never used. Naturally, I had to remedy that situation. Before I knew it, I was "creating." The Hubster stuck his head in for a few seconds, smiled, and realized my temporary "organizing" madness had passed. He left, knowing all had returned to normal.
NBUS Items: Watercolor Paper, Background Stamp, Rusty Hinge, and Uncharted Mariner Distress Inks.
I have owned this background stamp for at least five or six years...never touched it! After playing around with my distress inks, I wanted to use this stamp for a technique that works so well with the Lavinia Stamps. I can't afford too many Lavinia Stamps, so I had to make it work with what I have.
The technique is simple. Color your background, add your background stamp (black works best), and then cut out the bold design you want to highlight. Here is a link to "Papercrafting With Lou Collins." I use her videos to get ideas for mixed media backgrounds!

NBUS Items: Dragonfly Background Stamp, Watercolor Paper, Flatback Crystals, Ranger Butterscotch Color Wash
Of course, I had to play with the highlight. I wanted to pull out one of the colors from my background. I found a piece of cardstock that closely matched the Kitsch Flamingo Distress Oxide Ink.Distress Inks: Salvaged Patina, Kitsch Flamingo, Uncharted Mariner
I was delighted to "rediscover" these beautiful crystal embellishments. They were a promotional item I reviewed early last year, and I had totally forgotten about them. They are gorgeous! The picture does not do them justice. There is a NBUS challenge! I may enter!
Thanks for Stopping By!
