Challenge #229 - 613 Avenue Create - ATG w/Optional Twist - Make It Shiny

Hello, Crafty Makers!
Happy New Year!
This month, at 613 Avenue Create,
Our Optional Twist is Make It Shiny!
Anything Goes, as well.
Any shiny element works.  So you don't have to overthink!
I am fully committed, once again, to limiting my spending on crafty things and reducing my stash.  I did not purchase any craft items for ten months in 2019. I am shooting for twelve months in 2020.

FEEL BETTER SOON!
Gold, Vellum, and Rhinestones
What could be shinier than creamy Pearl vellum paper over that gold card?  I used my Arteza Brush pens to color the images which were first embossed with white ep.  Once the images were dry, I applied iridescent watercolor medium over the wash to add extra shimmer.  The extra thin elastic gold cord with a flat back pearl finished off this project nicely!
The picture does not do justice to the "silky" shimmer on these stamped images.  I am going to try the technique again, using clear embossing powder.  The vellum and gold card I used on this project are both over 20 years old. The vellum is no longer manufactured so I have used it sparingly.  When I say I have a large stash, I am not kidding.  Which is why I am not buying any paper, embellishments, stamps or dies in 2020.

Stop by 613 Avenue Create and share your "Anything Goes" or "Shiny Creations.  We think it is a fun way to start off the new year!

CAS Design: Watercolor/Metallic Tissue Paper

Hello, Crafty Makers!
YAY, ME!
This is my third CAS card in the month of February.
Not only did I survive a CAS design, but I also learned two new techniques in the process.  I am glad February is a short month!
 Metallic Love
The hubster and I are in the throes of decluttering and refurbishing our home.  When we came across a box full of tissue paper, hubby suggested giving most of it away and then finding craft projects that would quickly utilize the stash I planned to keep.  Yesterday, while cruising around the Splitcoast Stampers'™member gallery,  I found a tutorial for Watercolor Tissue Paper.
There are several techniques one can use to take the watercolored tissue paper to the next level. In this wet embossing technique process, you are only supposed to apply the embossing powder to the textured ridges that form on the paper when you crumple it, however, I was curious to see what would happen if I just sponged Versamark® over the entire sheet.  I really like the result.  I have colored about ten sheets, so far, but hope to color my entire stash of tissue paper.   I want to use Brusho for the next group that I color.  The current ones were done with Ranger® Distress and Distress Oxide Inks. These prints will get stored with my mono (Gelli) prints.  Precolored papers are nice to have around when you need quick backgrounds or die cuts.

A Ghost of Christmas Past

Hello, Crafty Makers!

Christmas is not a holiday that I celebrate and, in the past, I would not create projects with Christmas related themes.  This year, I decided that I would send Christmas cards to my friends who do celebrate this holiday.  Sadly, half of the cards had been mailed before I decided to create this blog post!

Cards for the Ghost of Christmas Present
Because of my limited supply of Christmas dies and stamps, I had to keep my designs simple.  I was able to create cards quickly and reduce my stash!
The tree was cut from kraft card (I cut three and glued them together to add dimension).  I applied glue using a glue stick and then sprinkled it with glitter.

Happy Holidays!

Materials Used:
Watercolor Paper - cut to 5-0" x 3-3/4" (cut as many panels as needed)
Kraft cardstock
Gold cardstock
Silver cardstock

3-Small containers
