2021 Stash Bash #2 - WOYWW #609 - Layered Mixed Media Card

 Hello, Crafty Makers!

It is so nice to have an actual crafting mess on my work table tonight!  I have something to show my blog hopping buddies at The Stamping Ground's
"What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday"
You can join us!  Click HERE for details!

When I remembered to take pictures of my work desk!

This project is being entered into the
“It’s A Girl Thing”
Thanks to my friend Patti J. for making me aware of the challenge and suggesting that I submit my card!
My work as a Pediatric Clinical Supervisor made me aware of Turner Syndrome.  I can't honestly say that I learned anything new by participating in the hop! It is always nice to see campaigns that inform the public of rare and often overlooked medical conditions.

The image is from the G45 Old Curiosity Collection
I have been inspired lately by the work of Tracy Evans. I do not own any of her stamps (I have a couple on order) but I decided I would follow along with one of her designs using the supplies I had on hand.

This card is 5-1/2"x5-1/2", a definite departure for me.  The design space is 4-1/2"x4-1/2", so it is almost the same as working with an A2 card.  Following Tracy's tutorials has opened me up to more boldness in my layering.  I am also learning how to look at my stamps and stencils in an entirely different light.

I am super excited about using metal embellishments.  I don't do much steampunk and I don't generally use metal elements on my cards.  Tracy's tutorials have helped me buy into the idea of adding trinkets to my card faces.  Of course, the pieces I used on this card are baby steps, but I know I will become bolder as I move forward.
The project interior is finished by duplicating the background of the panel.  This year, I plan to make the interiors of my cards as interesting as the exteriors!  Wish me luck!

On a personal note, I had forgotten that politics is all about meetings, meetings, and more meetings!  Still, I am enjoying my role, and it is a good feeling to know that my efforts are helping the people of my district.

Fire and Ice
by Robert Frost
Some say the world will end in fire,
some say in ice.
From what I've tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.
But If it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice
 is also great
and would suffice.
Be Well and Stay Safe!

  1. I keep seeing people doing classes by this lady so I must check her out as I have loved everyone's results - your card is fab! I also happened to see the pink and orange card you created with your stash from Bella Crafts and I absolutely adore that! I had to check out the post because we have a Bella Crafts here and I thought you might have been close by (Hampshire, England) but it looks like you're in the States. Stay safe and keep smiling, Lisa-Jane #2

  2. Such a Beautiful card Chana, I love the yellow and the shading, fabulous images, used so wonderfully. Great insert too.
    Faith x

  3. Hi Chana. I have seen that lady's name mentioned a lot recently - but, much as I admire what you have done, I don't think it would be me. You have made a great start to a new technique! Well done.
    Take care. G-d bless.
    Margaret #5

  4. There’s a lot of deskers who do Tracy Evans classes, Neet definitely does. Your work is lovely and I’m glad you’re enjoying it!
    Hugs LLJ 6 xx

  5. Wow, the card is fabulous - gorgeous colours and lovely layers - I love that background stencilling.
    Have a good week,
    Diana xx #23

  6. well I think you're doing just fine - and supplies on the way!! Tracy's classes look such fun (a good friend of mine does lots of them ) but I've not joined in so far. take care and stay safe. Helen #3

  7. The card is great and I love the Steampunk theme. Hope you enjoy your new stamps when they arrive. Have a lovely creative week and happy woyww, Angela x16x

  8. What a gorgeous card, Chana! I love the colours you've chosen, and your sensitive use of metal embellishments - not overdone, just enough. I'm glad you are enjoying the inspiration from this lady whose name I am seeing everywhere these days!

Thank you for visiting, and for your very kind words about my blog - so glad you enjoy visiting and that you find it helpful. I am sorry you have your own health issues to deal with, and complications in your life. I know what living with chronic illness is like. I have been blessed indeed with the outcome of my cancer and it makes it doubly hard to see others suffer so much.

I struggle to like kale, too, although I wouldn't go so far as to say I can't abide it... I reserve that condemnation for celery which I can't stand!! I use celeriac instead which has a milder flavour. I have found ways to improve the kale and I do persevere with it because it's so nutrient-rich. I've got a new smoothie bowl recipe to try for breakfast tomorrow and I shall see whether I can still taste the dreaded stuff! Certainly the Cavolo Nero variety is a lot sweeter than the regular kale. I make a green goddess salad bowl but it doesn't contain kale - the green comes mostly from basil and parsley. It's really delicious! Like you, I do love spinach and have it quite a lot, including raw in salads.

    Happy WOYWW,
    Shoshi x #15

  9. Loving your steampunk and metal embellies. And yes trips down memory lane can be good for the soul, thank you for your encouragement. BJ#25

  10. Hi Chana, the idea of creating inside the cards as well as outside is so effective you'll have so much fun when your stamps arrive. I have many of Tracy's designs but they are very addictive, I need to try and be good for a while now. Beautiful work, have fun on your crafty adventure. Happy WoywW Tracey #35

    1. Thanks, Tracey! I am on a budget so I can only get a few. I am taking a couple of her workshops, though.

      Thanks for the comment!

  11. Another lovely creation! I read where you saw the contest had ended. That was for the 12 DT members. Keep scrolling down past that Linky, and you’ll find another one! Good luck!

    1. I meant to let you know that I had figured out my own stupidity! LOL!

  12. Your card is beautiful and so different. No wonder your friend encouraged you to join the challenge. Hope you have a great week! Dorlene #31

  13. Hello Chana, and thank you for your lovely comments. Lots of bloggers mention Tracey Evans and if your beautiful card was inspired by her work then I can see why she is so popular. Beautiful work and lovely to visit your desk. stay safe and have a happy week.

  14. A beautiful card Chana, perfect for the challenge. Stay safe and happy WOYWW. Sarah #10

  15. I know doing the interior really finishes a card off, but it not something I have ever done. Have fun with your art. The poem in interesting, I haven’t read that one before. Have a great week Angela #17

  16. It's lovely to see a feminine card that isn't girly - I'm not into pink myself, but that car is pretty cool.

TS is a condition I have heard of before, and it's good to see its profile being raised. If I can drag myself away from the stitching, I may join in.

Thanks for stopping by this week!

    Morti x

  17. Chana your card is gorgeous with all of the embellishments and such dimension! Thank you for joining us at the "It's A Girl Thing" Turner Syndrome Awareness Blog Hop!

  18. Chana, your card is absolutely gorgeous! The colors are so yummy and I LOVE the embellishments! Your card just pops with craftiness! You did right by entering it into the challenge! Everyone needs to see that gorgeousness! Thank you so much for stopping in on my blog and leaving your wonderful comment! Make some ATC's they are so much fun to do. I think I like them because the geography isn't such as a journal page and when I'm not hopping with ideas, I'm not put off due to having to fill a "large" space! Many, many blessings to you and stay safe and healthy! Felicia #28

  19. OK so don't roll your eyes but I like the inside of the card best. It really is lovely. I've heard TE mentioned in other people's videos but not explored her work at all. Maybe I should. Thanks for your comment. I, too, have a stupidly rare condition (or so they tell me) but mine was the direct cause of taking STATINS. Ugh. The vaccine was painless, although my arm is painful today - I'm told that is a good thing. It means I am having an immune response. We shall see. I understand your hesitation - No one really knows if people on the meds I am on, with the condition I have (or similar) will benefit from the vaccine, but I can't face staying in for the rest of my life. I hope there are no bad side effect, but if there are it'll just be another crappy dice roll. My life is full of them.

I hope you are doing well otherwise and can stay safe! Must feel good to wake up in a blue Georgia every morning.

hope you had a Happy WOYWW!
    Mary Anne (1)

    1. Well, I rolled my eyes so hard I almost passed out!:D) You are not alone, The Hubster liked the inside as well. I don't know about the two of you! LOL! Thanks for the visit and the comment.

It does feel good. I was elected as a post seat holder in my local Democratic Party. I was also up for another rather impressive position but I withdrew in favor of a millennial. I think the party needs new blood even though some of them drive me to distraction.

I am sure you will be fine. Kudos to you for getting it done!

  20. Terrific card ~ love the metal findings and the sentiment. Enjoy the weekend ahead! Love, Karen #27

  21. Chana, What a wonderful nostalgic mixed media card. Feminine yet a touch of masculinity. Thank you for joining in to support and help spread the word of Turner Syndrome. Stay safe and happy crafting!

  22. hi Chana! Glad to hear you are enjoying your new political life! And your card is beautiful! I have also made the same intention regarding the insides of my cards - they should be as nice as the outsides! Thanks for your visit, have a great week, and stay safe! Lindart #33

  23. OH WOW Chana ... this is AWESOME! Thanks SO MUCH for helping to spread the word about Turner Syndrome! Hugs

  24. Love all the yellow...I think I did something for the Turner syndrome last year...must have a look!
    Happy WOYWW!
    Stay safe and keep well!
I am hoping to visit everyone this week – unfortunately last week I just couldn’t make it…
