Shopping Our Stash Weekly Challenge: Get Krafty! Use Kraft Paper In Your Design

Hello, Crafty Peeps!
This week, the SOS Design Team challenge is:
Create a project using Kraft Paper.
I love kraft paper for creating "faux" leather notebooks and tablet covers.   The cost is low and I can swap covers on my Fire Tablet almost daily.   I am eager to see your makes...
I am always looking for "Krafty" inspiration.
~~~~~~~
I created one new project for this challenge
Using the Tim Holtz Die Alterations® Die  "Umbrella Man.
"TRANSFORMATION"
I used craft foam instead of foam tape to add dimension to my project.  Craft foam is cheap and allows you to die cut cardstock and foam at the same time.
I reversed the "Transition" on my interior image.
Stash Items:  Every item used in this project is 15 months old or older.
 Here are some past faux leather projects using kraft paper.
Hope you find some "krafty Inspiration!"
Orange You Special
My infusion nurse requested a Traveler's Notebook Cover but she wanted it to be Orange and she wanted me to use the "faux leather" technique.  She was convinced her family and friends would not believe that her planner cover was made from paper.  She took the finished planner before I could get pictures, however, I found two shots on my tablet.
I used Tim Holtz® Carved Pumpkin™ and  Abandoned Coral™ Distress Inks to create the orange undertones desired.  She was very pleased with the result.
The orange is there but does not overwhelm.
"Itty Bitty Notebooks"
Using Kraft Paper to Create Faux Leather
Sunflower
I use the sunflower embossed design quite often when creating notebooks and Planner Covers.  It is the most requested.
"Waves of Grain"
I don't get as many requests for this one,
but it is still one of my favorite embossed designs.
"Butterflies are Free"
This design is fabulous on a mini planner.
"A Pocket Full of Posies"
My five-year-old granddaughter chose this design for
her mini notebook cover.  This summer she is going to do her first planner.
I used Darice folders for these projects but any embossing folder will work just fine.
 Join us at Shopping Our Stash!  We look forward to seeing what you create with your kraft paper!
She's A Craftin' Machine - Shopping Our Stash
Hello, Crafty Peeps!
Page Markers cut on the Silhouette
We have a fun challenge for you this week at Shopping Our Stash!  We are curious to see examples of the many creative ways crafters use their various crafting machines.
My Silhouette Cameo has been getting quite the workout since I became an avid planner girl.  I usually decorate three days at a time, which is easy because my days don't vary that much.
I definitely like these funky little page markers, by Scrapcraftastic™.  Her template includes blanks so that you can personalize the markers to fit your needs.
I added stickers to the markers that I use in my TN.  Customizing your files is easy peasy and that means your personality drives the design of your pages and the elements you use in your planner.
~~~~~~
While I use some paid sticker images, I have found quite a few blogs that provide monthly freebie kits.  Most of the designers provide Studio.3, JPEG, and PDF files so using the print and cut function on the Cameo is very easy.  Additionally, most designers will include printing instructions for using their stickers with the Cameo.  Even if you don't have a cutting machine, you can print the files and use sissors.  Most sticker designers provide helpful hints about fussing cutting the sticker sheets.

I mix and match elements from various sticker sheets (I'm just weird like that) but most planners will use one theme throughout their weekly and/or monthly planning.  The pajama-clad image was fussy cut but the other stickers were cut using the Cameo.  The lazy day and Family time stickers are layered on top of planner square stickers.  The page tab is also a sticker and was fussy cut.

My daily calendar page has pre-defined boxes for things like goals, notes, schedule, and to do lists.  I usually cover those with stickers so that my pages are more interesting and I have more flexibility in the content of the page.

If you have never explored the world of planning, I would encourage you to do so...it is great fun and there is a true benefit in organizing your daily, weekly, and monthly routines.

Thanks for stopping by!

Shopping Our Stash - April Showers Bring May Flowers

Hello, Crafty Peeps!
It is so nice to join my teammates this week at Shopping Our Stash for a fun, fun challenge.   This week we pay homage to "April Showers Bring May Flowers."  Our ask is not big, we simply want you to use a flower on your project.

I am working on my TN setup for June, so I decided to make a loaded page marker.   I love making these and they are perfect for stash reduction.

Loaded Page Markers for your Planner.

Best little laminator on the planet!  You'll need this.
Markers and paper clips are easy to make.  You'll need patterned paper, pocket labels (or not, you can create your own using laminating pouches.)  Paper clips, clue and double-sided tape (Like Scor-Tape.)
To satisfy the challenge, I used a floral patterned paper and I added little floral stickers to my markers and paper flowers as toppers on my small book/page marks.  One of my images is sporting a floral dress, as well.
Since this marker is for my To Do List insert, I figured "hustle" was an appropriate sentiment.  I purchased the file from the Silhouette Store.  The To Do header is included in the die cut template at Scrapcraftastic (see link below).
The small brown bag contains additional stickers and die cuts!
 Back of Markers.
The large marker is double loaded (pockets front and back)
the smaller pink marker is front loaded.
These little puppies will eat up stash scraps.  I have become addicted and plan to spend tomorrow making a bunch of these.

You can also make these for use in junk journals and mini albums.  Here is a link to a designer whose work I just love.

Traveler's Notebooks - My New Obsession

Hi, Crafty Peeps!
I recently reorganized my studio and vowed to either use, donate, or throw away all those things that have gathered dust, paint and who knows what else over the past year.
The glitter is actually green. I have no idea why it photographed blue.
I definitely wanted to keep the faux leather fabric that was left over from an upholstery project. Unsure of how I would use the fabric, I sought inspiration on youtube.  I was inspired by this video  ZucchiniKitty to attempt my first Traveler's Notebook Cover.
Inside Cover TN #1-Muslin, Stamps, Copics, Ephemera
Curious to find out if the fabric would accept paint, I used my favorite Earth Safe Chalk paint and the result was fabulous!

Inside TN Cover#2- Muslin, Stamp, Stencil, Copics and Acrylic Paint

I was able to use old Gelli prints to make insert covers.

I've discovered the Planner community and there is an abundance of information, freebies, tutorials, and images available for newbies like me.   The most rewarding aspect of this new journey was finding so many African American images to use in my planner. I have long been frustrated by the lack of images of "people who look like me" to use in my projects, which is one of the reasons I moved away from creating cards.
Super cute page marker.
All you need is a laminator.
I love this image! (minus the Starbucks Cup)

I rarely take a purse to the store or to doctor's appointments.  Everything I need is in my TN including credit cards, DL, and health insurance ID.   I love this 16 pocket card holder insert.  The tutorial was easy to follow.  This is a great way to reduce your paper scraps stash!

I also created this top-loading dashboard that holds planning supplies and can be used to hold cash, too.  Even when I carry my purse, I just drop my TN inside and my purse is always organized.
I find creating my own planner far more engaging (creatively) and I am pleased with my early efforts.  If you have never created or used a Traveler's Notebook (or Fauxdori) as they are sometimes called, check out the fabulous Youtube tutorials.
