HOLTZ IT RIGHT THERE! Jackson's Digital Expressions

"Is Anybody In There" Digital Image by Robert Jackson
Fine Arts by Robert Jackson
Hi there, Cardies!  This week is a wonderful fun week at Jackson's Digital Expressions!  The CAS challenge team is hosting, and they have chosen a wonderful twist for this week's Anything Goes Challenge...Use a Tim Holtz Product on your card.  I figure at least eighty percent of the cards created this week will automatically qualify.  For my project, I used Tim Holtz Distress Inks (Pumice Stone, Stormy Sky, and Scattered Straw) blended with Copics to create the weathered look for my Outhouse.  I also used "Tea Dye" Distress Ink around the edges of my card.  The very yellow color is a blend of chalks!

I just love this image by Robert Jackson and it took a while to decide whether to use the male or female version, and then the captions were endless.  I finally settled on this one and then made my little toilet paper roll.  I hope you will drop by and leave a project.  Remember, you are not required to use a Robert Jackson Image in the challenge.    Thanks so much for checking out my blog.  This Friday I plan a marathon personal blog hop and I hope to visit the blogs of all my followers.  If I don't finish on Friday, I will pick up on Sunday.

Big Hugz,
Chana

I Feel Ya, Dogg! - Outlawz Greetings Challenge

Hello, Cardies!  Well It's Monday and Mondays are always Outlawz Challenges and Tammy's Scrapin Corner Challenges.  This week, I can use one card for both challenges.  Over at the Outlawz, our challenge was to create a greeting card using an animal print, image, or ribbon; I used all three!  I absolutely adore this "Bow Wow" image by Robert Jackson; he is just too cute!  Speaking of cute, my grandson, Joshua, was creating along with Bubbie and I promised him I would feature his card on my blog so, here is Joshua's card using "Bow Wow".  I think he is doing great learning to use his Copic Ciao.

I plan to enter my creation into the following challenges:

Tammy's Scrapin Corner-Anything Goes
Make It Monday-Always Anything Goes

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Remember to check out the weekly challenge at Jackson's Digital Expressions!  You can win wonderful Digis from Robert Jackson, Guylou's Inimitability and other wonderful sites!  Tomorrow's Anything Goes Challenge has a special optional twist "Use Anything Tim Holtz."  Can't wait to see your creations!

Tammy's Scrapin' Corner - Show Me Your Distress Challenge

DT CARD - OUTLAWZ GREETINGS CHALLENGE

Hello, Cardies!  This week at The Outlawz, our Greetings challenge was "Strawberry Pickens" and our cards had to include Strawberries as an element.   I've spent sometime researching various ways to use Distress Inks, and I used a few of them on this card.  The background image was sprayed on with a mist made with a Distress Reinker and Pearl Ex.  The flower was colored with a combination of Distress Ink, Acrylic Paint, and Homemade Glimmer Mist.  The tag is also colored with Distress Ink, Versa Ink, and Clear Embossing powder.  There is a little drip at the bottom edge of my background, but that is just a CHARACTOR FLAW! (LOL)

Tammy's Scrapin' Corner has a great challenge this week, " Show us Your Distress"  I plan to enter this card there and also at Make It Monday.  If you have not checked out Tammy and Marc's blog, you really owe it to yourself to do so.  They have a great team of designers and wonderful sponsors.  This week the sponsor is BugaBoo Stamps.

HELLO DOILY!

Image by Guylou's Inimitability "Leah At The Cocktail Party"

Helllo, Cardies!  I was responsible for the Theme at Guylou's for our current challenge. One of my favorite songs and movies is "Hello Dolly" and I thought it would make a great challenge.  Guylou has five images that I wanted to use for this challenge, and narrowing it down to one was a challenge in and of itself!!  I love the Leah series and this particularly image personifies "Hello Dolly!  I used a mixture of Liquid Pearls and Studio Glitter Glue to create her "sequined" gown.

Materials: Neenah CS, dp from scrap, Hygloss Paper Lace Doilies, Prima Flowers, Spellbinders Label #18, Martha Stewart Punch "Doily Lace Trim", Copic Sketch YG11, Hampton Art Studio G Glitter Glue.

BUTTERFLIES AND HANDMADE FLOWERS

Hello Cardies!  Over at The Crafter's Cafe, we are still celebrating Butterflies and Handmade Flowers!  We are using stamps from either The Stamping Boutique or Unity Stamp Company. On this card, to create my butterflies, I used EK "Chinese Knot Chain" for my bottom border.  I then used an old metal stencil to emboss a butterfly beneath the Unity Stamp Company "Friendship" sentiment.  To color the embossed butterfly, I used chalk and just kept layering the colors (found in my hand made flower) until I had the hue and tone that I wanted!  The handmade flower was made from a piece of brown sandwich bag.  The colors were achieved by adding glimmer mist, acrylic paint, stencil paint, and water (not necessarily in that order.)  I cut a strip from a piece of butterfly cardstock I found in my stash, and covered it with a strip of chocolate ribbon from Clear Stamp!

This was my first card for the Butterflies and Handmand Flowers.  I tried a few butterflies on here, but felt that they were a distraction to the design, so I just went with my flower.  I am workin on other flowers, but these are my favorites It doesn't take long to make them (I used a piece of a white T-Mobile bag to make this one and instead of acrylic paint, I used Copics and chalk to color) and you can get the most interesting color variations from a simple brown bag!  Tracey's Image had a lot of flowers and butterflies and bees on it, but I cut them off because I wanted a cleaner look.

The tutorial for these little flowers is on You Tube.  After you watch the video, you can monkey around with the techniques and come up with your own thing!

I am entering the top card in the following challenges:

Purple For Peace Day - Outlawz Greetings Challenge

Good Morning, Cardies!

MONDAY means a new Greetings Challenge at The Outlawz,   This is really an off week for me at The Outlawz (we get two weeks per month off) but I wanted to participate. Today is Purple For Peace Day, I wanted to do something to honor the service of the men and women who risk paying the ultimate price to insure our peace and tranquility. I  served in the United States Army, and the camouflage ensignia on the bow is mine.  I hand wrote the sentiment and it expresses not only my feelings, but also those of my husband  (Army) and my son (Navy) who also served.

MONDAY is  always "TAMMY'S SCRAPIN CORNER" day here at Card-d-ology.  Tammy and Marc have assembled a truly talented group of designers and they put together wonderful challenges each Monday for our pleasure.  I did not get the challenge theme for this week but hopefully, my card will qualify. I will update this post when I have the deets.  Check IT Out!!!

MONDAY is also the last day to enter this week's "Anything Goes" Challenge over at Jackson's Digital Expressions!  Special images are not required, we just love to see your fantastic designs while we use our design challenges to introduce you to the work of super talented digi artist Robert Jackson!  Our new challenge starts on Tuesday, and our Altered Art Challenge Team is hosting.  Whoopee!  This means that in addition to the jaw-dropping card creations you have been submitting, those of you love to Alter  Ojects will be able to share your creations with us!

I plan to enter this card into the following challenges: (I will add others depending on their theme)

PEEK- A- BOO - Jackson's Digital Expressions

Peek -A-Boo  by Robert Jackson
Hello, Cardies!   Don't you just love this image by Robert Jackson?  When I saw it, I immediately had memories of my children and grandchildren and the joy they seemed to get from looking at the world "upside down" as they put it!  I think what makes Robert's images so appealing is his ability to capture memories on paper.  All of our challenges at Jackson's Digital Expressions are now "Anything Goes," so pay us a visit and enter your latest project.  We have no limitation on the number of concurrent entries into other challenges, you can enter three projects into our challenge and, as long as your card was made this week (our week starts on Sunday), it is eligble for our challenges.

Next week, our Altered Art Team is hosting the challenge and I think it will be fun.  I'm giving a heads up to those of you who like to do something OTHER THAN A CARD!  Next week is your opportunity!

Thanks for stopping by and  if you have time, stop by and drop a card in the challenge over at Tammy's Scrapin Corner!

Big Hugz,

HINDSIGHT - OUTLAWZ GREETINGS CHALLENGE

Sentiment by Unity Stamps
Hi, Cardies!  I actually made this card for the Crafter's Cafe Challenge Blog.  Our DT challenge over there was handmde flowers and butterflies.  I thought it was so cool to use a punch to create my butterflies.  But when I didn't get the "Anything Goes" card I was working on for my Outlawz DT card, I decided to use this one instead.  It is very simple, but it is one of my favorites.  Hope you like it!
Some Reminders:

Make sure you check out Tammy's Scrapin Corner she has a wonderful challenge that starts each Monday.  She also has some new designers, you will want to check them out.

Jackson's Digital Expressions will have a new "Anything Goes Challenge" starting on Tuesday.  The challenge is being hosted by the Inks and Such Team, so it will be a great opportunity to show of your copic, prisma, chalk, and all other coloring skills.  Maybe we have some crayon masters out there...we would love to see it.

The Outlawz has too many prizes for me to mention here, but we would love to have you drop by and spend a little time at the Ranch.  We have 8, count em, 8 challenges, so I know you will find one that works for you.

Thanks for stopping by!

Handmade Flowers and Butterflies

Sentiment "Spring" by The Stamping Boutique
Hello, Cardies!
This month's challenge at The Crafter's Cafe Challenge Blog is to designa card with handmade flowers and butterflies.  I got half of it right.  I don't have small butterfly dies, and the large ones I do have just seemed to overwhelm the design, so I left them off.

I really like making these little flowers.  This one I made by cutting out a couple of circle from a T-Mobile Bag.  I altered the sentiment a little.

Every Day Is A Fashion Show

IMAGE "THE DATE" BY ROBERT JACKSON
Hi, Cardies!
I sure hope you will join us this week over at Jackson's Digital Expressions for our weekly challenge!  We have made a few rule changes including making all of our challenges "Anything Goes".  Our DT will still provide inspiration with sub-themes that we hope will help stimulate your mojo.  This week, the DT is using Peach, Yellow, and Brown as our inspiration colors.

"The Date;" is one of my favorite Jackson Images.   Of course, I only have 200 favorites....so!!!  I am in a stash using mode, so all of the components on this card came out of the laundry hamper that I use to store small portions of card stock and the shoe box that holds bits and pieces of dp that I just know will be perfect on some card some day!

Our challenge ends on Monday, May 7th at 10:30 pm (EDT), so you have plenty of time.   The winner will receive a free Robert Jackson Digi, a $15.00 Ellen Hutson GC, and an invitation to join us as a GDT on an upcoming challenge.

I will be giving this image as a prize here at CARD-D-OLOGY.  Here's all you have to do:  If you are not already a follower here and at Jackson's Digital Expressions, join both sites, enter a project in the challenge and then come back here and leave a comment telling me the #of you link.  There will be multiple winners.  The number of winners depends on the number of comments.

Big Hugz,
Chana
