2020 Stash Party #30 - Sympathy Card #4

Hello, Crafty Makers!
Well, we are at sympathy card # 4 of 5!  I am trying to think of one more new design.  I want to stick with the embossed clinging vine background  I may just change up the color and maybe fine another border die to use as an inset die cut.  We'll see.
Wishing You...
I know I am breaking that unwritten rule that sympathy cards should be in muted colors and maudlin.  I can't do it.  Anyway, I figure if she does not like it as a condolence card, she could always use it as a get well card.  I am sure Covid-19 has presented lots of opportunities to wish all of the above for people.
This soft pink EP is one of my favorites for background embossing. And, as you can imagine, it works great on flowers.  This company made a similar EP that they called Sahara Pearls.  It is a translucent rather than opaque EP.  I may use it on the next condolence card.  The color is lovely!
When I emboss my card backgrounds, I always hope for this bumpy, leather looking finish.  It is not only visually pleasing but also very much a fun texture that feels good when you touch it. I was super pleased with the outcome of this background.
Matching ink colors with paper when they are sourced from different companies is always a challenge.  I was over the moon at the perfect match up of my 20-year-old vellum paper and Ranger's Peeled Paint Distress Oxide.  Just amazing!  That oh so pretty Prima flower was the perfect finishing embellishment.

Stash Party #15 - Day 2 - Use One Stamp Five Ways- A Five Day Challenge

Hello, Crafty Peeps!
This is day two of the progressive five-day challenge between me and my crafting buddy.  Each day we must make changes that elevate the design.  We are confined to using stash items only.
Card #2
Have Faith In What Will Be
My progression for today's card was to add a textured colored card layer.  I also added sequins, changed the washi tape (both are black but have different designs) and I used a different flower and I changed the location of the flower.  I really love the simplicity of this card.  The design allows the sentiment to shine.

A Barrel of Monkeys - Wednesday Sketch Challenge Entry

Hi, Crafty Peeps!
The Wednesday Sketch Challenge provided a great opportunity to put another check in another box on my list of personal crafting challenges for 2019.  I actually used "flowers!" YAY!  I have literally hundreds of flowers that I bought because they were "so cute" and hundreds more that came with "kits."  I long ago stopped buying embellishments.  I use what I have on hand, or I create it.  Among my "mostly not used" stash are several flower creation sets and flower dies.  These days the most I buy are glue, paper, and on occasion a die or stamp needed for a DT project.  Otherwise, 2019 is purely stash projects.
 A Barrel of Monkeys
 Here is the challenge sketch.

I have grown to love critter cards (this is new territory for me) and I was looking for the perfect sketch/layout in which to use them.  I tried to incorporate the little monkey holding a balloon, but couldn't make that work...maybe next challenge.

My biggest challenge was my attempt to create the look of a barrel on a flat surface.  Determined not to bother The Hubster, I played around with a few iterations and finally decided that putting my scoreboard to use was the best choice. A stencil and some distress ink gave me all the barrel "suggestion" I needed.

I was not happy with all the blank space on the card in the lower left-hand corner.  So, I checked my personal challenge list to see what boxes remained unchecked and one was "Use More Flowers."  A long, long time ago, I purchased a kit that used the Prima Engraver series.  That was back during my "I love mini albums" phase.  Of course, that mini was never made but I was able to cut up one of the floral sprays and use it on this card.

I like this sketch and will probably use it for other projects.  Why don't you give it a try and join the Wednesday Sketch Challenge?

  Thanks for Stopping By!

613 Avenue Create- Challenge #156 - Anything Goes w/Optional Twist - Use Music Symbols

Good Morning, Crafty Peeples,

This week, the Design Team at 613 Avenue Create would love to see you create a project that incorporates, Musical Symbols, Sheet Music, Lyrics, etc.

I am late with my post.  I wasn't actually scheduled to post a project this week, but,
yesterday, I learned that Leslie Hanna, the owner of the Shopping Our Stash Challenge Blog, died Christmas afternoon.  Her death was sudden and unexpected and has left us all in a state of shock.  My teammates and I are still trying to imagine SOS without her.

Goodbye, my dear friend.  Rest in the arms of G-d!
I am not sure what influenced the creative side of my brain while working on this tag.
I started with a piece of sheet music torn from one of my clarinet study books.
I haven't had my clarinet against my lips in years.
I think I might......in 2016, baruch hashem, pick it up again.

Thanks for Stopping by!  I would love to see your entry at

Chana!

613 Avenue Create - Challenge #155 - Anything Goes

Hello, Crafty Peeples!

December is usually a lost crafting month for me because most of the challenges are centered around Christmas. This year I decided to create Winter themed projects that would not look Christmasy.  Also, since my birthday is in November and all of my gifts are craft supplies or money to be used to buy craft supplies, I usually have a lot of new toys with which to play!
New Toys:
Big Shot Plus, Minc Foil Machine, Silhouette Mint, and the E Brush
(Using an air brush system is not as easy as it looks!)

So here are two tags that are going on gifts to a couple of special friends.
This is more fall than winter, but I just love this blend of Tim Holtz Distress Inks.
I think the brown tones warm up the chill of the cool blues in this creation.

Stop by 613 Avenue Create to say hello and drop off your ATG project!
I'll be on the look out for ya!

Starry Night Steampunk Clock Plate - Earth Safe Finishes

Hello, Crafty Peeps, today I am sharing

"Starry Night" Steampunk Clock Plate.
I am thoroughly enjoying my time on the Earth Safe Finishes ® DT!  This week, I focus on Ann Butler Designs™ Iridescents "Lagoon."  This Lagoon color is rich and elegant.  I am already looking for new ways to use it.  The pearls on this plate were originally bright white but a light coat of Iridescents "Sheer Gold" helps them blend into the palette.
Once again, my hubster was my hero!  During dinner, I mentioned that I wanted to attempt to create a steampunk clock.  He went to the Goodwill, came back with this plate and asked: "Well, can you use this to make a clock?"  It's nice to know that he actually listens to all my craft blab! I have also included two of those fabulous glass beads he picked up for me a few weeks ago. .

SUPPLIES USED:
Earth Safe Finishes® Chalk It Up™: Licorice, English Tea Cake
Earth Safe Finishes® Gesso
Earth Safe Finishes® Pigments: Organic Yellow, Permanent Red
Embellishments:  Pearls, Flowers, metal clocks, gears (From my stash)
Die Cuts:  Tim Holtz® Alterations "Weathered Clock" and Marianne Design® Craftable Die "Clock Work"
HOW I DID THIS
STEP ONE:
Bore hubster to death at dinner talking about your project.  Maybe he will visit the local Goodwill Store and come back with a great idea. The plate cost $.39 at the Goodwill (5 min drive from my house.)
Cover plate with two coats of Gesso.
WhitePlate:Steampunk Plate w gesso
STEP 2:
Select the Ann Butler Designs™ Iridescents color (I used Lagoon.) I did two coats, drying between each coat.  After the paint dried, I used Earth Safe Finishes® Chalk It Up™ to trim the outer and inner edges of the plate lip.  I added my "stars" using a Sharpie Fine Point Marker.  Note: This is the water based poster marker.  You can use a flicker brush, but you have better design control using the marker.  Gesso on the tip of a cotton swab also works.

STEP 3:
Add your contrasting "Moon Color" around the inside edges.  Here I mixed Organic Yellow, Permanent Red and White.  I smeared/blotted the paint with a moist paper towel.  Determine the best focal arrangement, adhere to plate and spray entire project with sealant( 2-3 applications.)

STEP FOUR:  DISPLAY
So now, this plate joins my collection on the fireplace mantel

Outlawz Monday Greetings Challenge - Use Pink - Crafty Friend Gift Box

Hello, Crafty Peeps!

Sharing today my creation for this week's challenge at The Outlawz!  I am the September GDT for the Monday Greetings Team and our theme this week is Use Pink!  In addition to finding some wonderful inspiration, you also have the opportunity to win a great prize.

I have wanted, for a while now, to make this wonderful "Double Flip" gift box.  For this challenge, I created a "Crafty Friend" gift selection and it fit perfectly into this large box.

What a cool way to send a "crafty" to your favorite creative buddy!

The tutorial for this box can be found on Crafty Caroline's YouTube Channel

The angled cuts on the side add graphic interest to the design.
(Yes, one flap is slightly crooked.  Should have used the cutter!)
The flaps were coated with Mod Podge Sparkle.
I also spinkled on a little Fairy Dust Glitter for additional sparkle!
The fold over flaps on the inside of the box add sturdiness and stability.  To keep the design cohesive, I  glued a piece of card stock to the bottom of my box.

Supplies Used:
Designer Paper - Pink Paisleee "Oyster Bar"
Base Paper - Bazzill Card Stock (from my stash, don't know color)
Flower - Prima Flowers "Life Time"
Crystals -  Prima - "Sunrise Sunset"
Distress Inks - Black Soot, Vintage Photo
Misc: Ephemera (7 Gypsies), Crystal Heart (stash), Fairy Dust Glitter "Sugar Shimmer"

Quietfire - Thank You - Boxed Set

Hello, Crafty Peeples!

This post features my final projects as a Guest Designer for Quietfire Creations.
One of the products provided by Quietfire was their Floral Thank You (Item #5833.)
The versatility of this rubber stamp set is a delight for the card crafter's heart!

A Boxed Thank You Card Set allows the use of all stamps in the Collection
and Gingko biloba (Item #5855) (The Gingko biloba card is not pictured below)

Directions for creating the box and lid can be found HERE  Thanks, PootlesPapercraft for the wonderful tutorial!
I chose not to show all the cards I created for this project.
The box accomodates 8 cards with envelopes

I also created this combination Gift Card/Treat Box project using the "Thank You" sentiment!

These little boxes are easy to construct and and a perfect vehicle for the "Thank You" sentiment.
I originally planned to create a box using the same papers, but I was out of Teresa Collin's "Fabrications."  Hershey's Kisses look great in these boxes but all I had on hand were some Chiclets!

Directions for creating the Gift Card/Treat Box can be found HERE.   Thanks, PootlesPapercraft for the wonderful tutorial!

Gift Card Box
Quietfire Rubber Stamps: Floral Thank You, Gingko biloba, Raindrops are like Fairy Whispers

Believe - Quietfire Guest Designer

Hello, Crafty Peeps!
I am so excited to present this project as a Guest Designer for Quietfire Creations!
I was honored to be invited, and trust me, I agonized over what to create!  Eventually,
I created two projects using the  Quietfire "Believe" Die

Project #1   An Upcyled Ping Pong Paddle
Project #2   A Journal Cover

I was inspired by a project from Asmah Abidin.  She had the fabulous idea of upcycling a ping pong paddle.  I thought this would be the perfect showcase for the Quietfire "Believe" Die!
I sent my hubby off to the Goodwill and he returned with 2 paddles, and a Racketball Racket, which he says he purchased in self defense just in case inspiration took a left turn somewhere.
(Translation no more sudden trips to the Goodwill. )

The elegance of this Quietfire "Believe Die"  really draws the eye into this design, I think!
Quietfire offers a Believe Stamp Set that could be used to complement the die.
Paper piecing has become a true port of refuge for me on the days my hands don't work well enough for me to color.  I drew the colors for my paddle from her jacket!.
The dark wood stain, really brought out the earth colors.   To brighten the palette a little,  I added the orange-red flowers and a smathering of TH Abandoned Coral DI on the flourishes.
PROJECT #2 - JOURNAL
I resisted the temptation to make the spine and back more elaborate!  I decided to leave both black and add only random swipes of gold!  I covered the entire project with three coats of  Liquitex Professional Gloss Varnish...the effect is quiet lovely!

National Random Act Of Kindness Day - 613 Avenue Create

Hello, Crafty Peeples,

Over at 613 Avenue Create we are celebrating National Random Act of Kindness Day (RAK).  As usual, our challenge is Anything Goes w/ Optional Twist and our Twist this week is create something for  your mailman, a neighbor, favorite waitress, etc.

This card is going into a bundle that my SIL is taking to her church.  They use them for birthdays, get well, etc.  My SIL always holds some back for the members to take for their personal use.
This fabulous image is from  Art By Miran
The wonderful lace is from Prima.  They stopped making it four years ago, so I use what I have sparingly.  The green ribbon is from Really Reasonable Ribbon.  The Flower and Foliage Stem are from Petaloo.  The Printed Designer Paper is from My Mind's Eye  Lost and Found - Market Street
The card base is Neenah #80 CS - Classic Crest Baronial Ivory. The Green Card Stock is Bazzill

Would love to see your creations in our challenge!  Thanks for stopping by!  Hugz, Chana
