Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers #138 -" N" is for NERD! - Stylin' Hollywood Nerds

Hello, Crafty Peeps!

I couldn't sleep last night, so I decided to visit a few challenge blogs.  
Well, I only made it to one: 
Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers.

I have this funny stamp I wanted to use but wasn't quite sure how.  I didn't want to do the usual nerdy computer guy thing!

I hope the Snarky Sisters agree that my Hollywood Nerds fit the challenge!

Stylin' Hollywood Nerds

The paper pieced tops were both done from one double-sided 6"x6" patterned paper.  I used a Copic marker to add a little green color to the creamed colored polka dot paper (you can see the original color in the decorative circle at the upper right).

I have checked another box in my personal crafting challenge.  I used dies and that Hollywood Stamp is at least 10 years old.  I also reduced my paper scraps and pulled out my swiss dot embossing folder that hasn't been used for a while.  I am on a personal roll!  Now, to clean up my studio!

Welcome to another fun challenge at Shopping Our Stash.  This week we honor both Independence Day and Canada Day.   Please show us your Red, White, and/or Blue creations.    It is not necessary to use all three colors and your project does not have to have a patriotic theme.

I have been so disheartened by the unfortunate situation that has developed between the Canadian and American Governments.  I want all my Canadian friends to know that "we, the people," will never forget your friendship and support from Normandy to Baghdad.  As a US Army veteran, I offer you my sincere thanks and a heartfelt apology for the behavior of #45.

Thankful/Grateful -Shopping Our Stash

Good Morning, Crafty Peeples!

The Challenge today over at SHOPPING OUR STASH is to create a project based on the theme 

Thankful or Grateful

I am most Thankful and Grateful for my spouse!  We have been married for 45 years and he is my best friend and my most ardent cheerleader.  I made this Toilet Paper Mini Album for him.  He has been scanning and cataloging old family photos and wanted to know if I could make a mini album "without all the flowers and stuff."

The Papers used here are from Echo Park Paper Co.

I probably should have inked the edges.  I hate white edges.  I am going back inking the edges.  Ughhh!  Why do I do these things to myself!

Don't you just love this cute little Gum Ball Machine Digi?  Every time I go into Big Lots, I threaten to buy one and DH just drags me away.  When I was coloring the hearts, I was thinking about those little candy hearts that come in a box.  I really couldn't remember the colors.

This wonderful designer paper comes from the Echo Park 6"x 6" Happy Days Collection.

 I was delighted to have a chance to use my bottle cap.  
It is one of those items that I purchased more of than I could possibly ever use.

Tried to keep the inside simple but tied back to the front!

Outlawz Greetings Challenge - Recipe

Hi, Crafty Peeps!

Well this posting is very late.  I should have posted it on Monday, but I was unhappy with my first effort, so...  Anymahoo, our challenge for you this week, courtesy of Alex, is create a project using the following recipe:  2 Designer Papers, Ribbon, Pearls, and a Sentiment.

 This is the year I try to expand my creative horizons.  I will endeavor to do "cute" and CAS.  Although this is technically not CAS, it is close enough.  I simply love the highlighted border technique and it is perfect for a challenge like this where the sentiment is supposed to be the star!

Whoa, I am so getting into "gussying up" the insides of my cards.  I try to keep it simple though.

613 Avenue Create - Anything Goes w/Optional Twist

Hello, Crafty Peeps!

  Those of you who are familiar with my work know that I very rarely make "cutesy" cards.  Not that I don't like them, I just am not that in to creating them myself.  This year I promised I would expand my crafting horizons, so you will see many attempts at creating cute cards. The Optional Twist this week is:  The Sights, Sounds, and Colors of Winter.   My image is from:

 I guess I really am into trying to broaden my scope, because I used a lot of glitter glue on this card and I normally don't use glitter.  This image seemed to cry out for it, though.  I was so happy when I found the little blue glittered flower in my jar of miscellaneous flowers.

The "Lift Tickets" seemed to work here and I thought they worked well with the challenge theme.  I tried four or five different ways of attaching them to the card, but using this flower seemed to give me the best effect.  I used a small flat head brad to attach the tickets and then covered the brad with the flower.  The tops of the tickets are dimensioned and looks kinda cool IRL!

 I have fallen in love with this spellbinder die and was excited to find that it framed my image perfectly!  The white ribbon is from one of my Really Reasonable Ribbon bundles.  I have purchased several of their sale bundles and will purchase more.  I can always find the perfect ribbon for my projects!   My DH, the artist, says that my coloring is improving with each day.  I love my hubby to death, but I also know that he will LIE to protect my feelings.  But I wasn't too disappointed with this.  I will never have great Copic skills, but I will keep trying!   Maybe that is why I don't do cutesy...too much coloring!

I have had these mitten stamps and sentiment for almost two years.  This is my first time using them.  They work well with this project..don't ya think?

Just Chill! - Outlawz Greetings and Creative Freebies Chjallenge

Hello, Cardies,

Well, I am in my Mini Album Stage, so you will be seeing a lot of mini albums.  I am trying to step out of my element and try something different and new.   I love my cards and they will always be my staple, but I think Mini Albums have just stolen my heart.  

The image was provided by Sandi Huggett in the Outlawz Creative Freebies Challenge.  This cute little snowman and the Scrap Your Trash theme of the Outlawz Monday Greetings Challenge, inspired my paper choices. 

I used Echo Park's Winter Park  6x 6 Pad  I thought the cool colors were perfect for my "Chill" book!
The cover is Neenah Havalind Blue and  Smoke Grey (The grey paper 32 years old) ! 

Unfortunately this shot does not show the accordion fold.
The book was made alternating Grey, White and Blue #10 Business Envelopes.

I am working on three more mini albums.  There are so many ways to bind these cute little books, and so many materials that can be used to make them.  Hopefully, I will get a couple of tutorials posted this week.    Thanks for stopping by and taking a look.  I hope you will join in The Outlawz Challenges.  We have Eight fun and exciting challenges and the friendliest member in all of Cyberland!

Hi, Cardies!   Well, I have another shopping card for you!  This one is an image from Guylou's Inimitability.  Our Challenge Theme this week is : Create a Monochromatic Card.  I decided to use "Lotus" as my model.  I think she looks pretty chic all decked out in her blue and grey.  The papers are all from my stash.  I was going to paper piece her skirt with the polka dot dp, but I liked it better as a panel, although I think the polka dot skirt would be pretty cool!  The pearls on her blouse, handbag and handle of her shopping bag were made using Ranger's Liquid Pearls "Baby Blue".

I was so good, I only used one ribbon.

The base cardstock looks black on the monitor I'm using this morning, but it is actually a very pretty color called Bagdad Brown.

Remember, you have to use at least the number of items called for in the recipe, but like any good cook, please feel free to season to your taste.

I found the sketch I used for this card in Paper Craft Magazine.
