This is my DT Card for The Book Month Challenge at Outlawz. It is inspired by Maya Anegelou's "I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings! It is also my entry at Unstampabelles. It is nice to see more sites that don't require stamping. So glad I found these ladies! When you enter their challenges, just remember they are on Australian time!
I really enjoy making these little cards! I hope to create some ATCs using some of my old metal stencils, I think I might be able to produce a pretty cool image. I purchased a set of Artist Cards, and I used one of those for my bird cage ATC. I put the cards away and could not find them today, but I realized I had a ton of medium weight chipboard so I used that for the next two ATCs. For those of you not familiar with Artists Trading Cards, they are an off shoot of Artists Cards which many famous artist use to make and sell for extroadinary amounts of money. Artist Trading Cards are not intended to be sold. The only rule is that the card must be 2 1/2" x 3 1/2". You can paint them, etch, stencil, whatever you desire. Hope you enjoy looking! C-YA!
These ATCs were created for the Creative Freebies Challenge at The Outlawz. The digis were created by my Teammies, Sandi Huggett (Angel) and Anne E. Fenton (Cupcakes). This week Anne and Sandi were very generous and gave us four wonderful Digis for our creations. I was only able to complete projects using these two. If you are just starting to use digital images/stamps, the CFC Challenge at The Outlawz might be a good place for you to start. Twice a month, you will receive two-four free digis and it is only necessary to use one in a project in order to get the next set of free images.
While you are at The Outlawz, check out the other seven great weekly challenges: CAS, Greetings, Sketch, Copics, Twisted Thursday, Color, Paper Ala Mode.
Supplies: Art Parts, 7 gypsies ATC Tray Kit, Prima Lace, Ribbon, Pearls and Copics.

CUTE AS A BUTTON - CAS CHALLENGE
Here is a quick card I made for the CAS Challenge at the Outlawz! I am so glad to be done (almost) with holiday cards. So I chose an image that is as far removed from the holidays as possible! The Challenge was to create a BABY CARD! I had to force myself to go into my studio, which is highly unusual for me. When I was in there, all I did was stare at my drafting table. I made a simple card for my DT card this week. I hope my Mojo comes back. I'm blaming it on a lot of DRAMA at work and the drain of the holidays, although Chanukah is one of the easiest and least stressful of all Jewish Holidays!

Thinking of You - Outlawz DT Card
Outlawz Greeting Card Challenge 12-19-11 -Bling It!
I wish my camera (of course it is the camera) had captured the glitter on this card. In real life it is so pretty. I am not a big glitter fan and use it infrequently, but I must say I like how this card tured out. The crystal bead chain that I laced through the bottom is hard to see on the picture but is really stunning in person. Well enough bragging on my own card. Hop over to OutLawz and enter one of our challenges.
The Flourish is from Cheery Lynn (Made in the USA!!!)
Supplies: Neenah Solar White Linen, pink dp from my stash, brad and pearls from Want2Scrap, crystal beads from my stash.

Friendship's Garden - Challenge 5
Check out this inspirational challenge at Friendship's Garden. Remember, there is no stamping at this site. Great way to challenge yourself in the fine art of mixing and matching design papers. I am always impressed by those ladies who can put 20 pieces of dp on one card and end up with a simply breathtaking design Obviously, I'm not at the breathtaking stage..not yet! This dp was the closet I could come to the colors. I also entered this card in the Outlawz CAS challenge. But since I'm a DT member, I was only playing for fun!

Case Study Challenge #67-Kryssi Ng
This is my entry into the Case Study Challenge! I fell in love with this DP the moment I saw it. I wanted to stay as true to the original sketch as possible, but make my own footprint (so to speak). This dp was great in this case because allowed me to take the boarder stamping of Kryssi's card and case it as a background.. This dp is so nice, I have started two other cards using it! I really enjoy the CS Challenges and I am a big fan of Amy Wanford and Andrea Ewing. Amy's CAS cards are to die for and Andrea does the most amazing things with die cuts.

TRANQUILITY
Outlawz Color Challenge: Purple, Green, White
Well, this is the time of year when everyone is running around trying to find that perfect gift! Something to top the perfect gift of last year! It seems to me that the person who this day was created to honor, was never harried or rushed. Never concerned so much about the material things in life, but more the spiritual. Personally, I think he would like my card!
Supplies: Neenah Solar White Linen CS; Bazzill Basics Purple CS, Astro-Brights Lime Green Text Paper; Image: GinaK Stamps "Falling for You" collection; Sentiment: Kraftin Kimmie Stamps; Die Cut: Memory Box "Meridian Border", Pearls: Zva Creative, Ink: Momento Tuxedo Black, Copics: YG07, V17
Just For You
This is my non-traditional X-mas tree. I don't normally do X-mas themed projects, however, This week's Greetings Challenge at Outlawz was "Gift Wrapped" and I wanted to stick with the theme. I could have done a Chanukah card, but I don't believe it giving gifts at Chanukah...makes it seem like X-mas. But I didn't believe in giving gifts at X-mas either. I don't like the commericialization of religious holidays.
Supplies: Neenah Classic Crest - Ivory CS; Lost&Found Two - Sunshine DP, Recollections Printed Scrapbook Papers; Spellbinders Nesties; cArt-Us Embossing Folders; Momento Rich Cocoa Ink; Ribbons, Pearls, Stickles.

Happy Birthday...Almost!
I did not make this card, my darling husband made it for me, for my birthday! The card comes with a story, of course! When we were dating, my husband would pick the most outrageous spots to ask me if he had told me that he loved me. The dialog would go something like this: (We were in Arizona)
DH: Have I told you standing here admiring the beauty of the Grand Canyon, while I was holding your hand in one hand and my expensive Nikon Camera in the other, praying that I continue to hold onto and not drop either one. Have I told you under these circumstances that I love you?
ME: (Once I stopped laughing) No, you have not.
DH: Well, I love you!
ME: How Much?
DH: More than all the money in the world...ALMOST!!
I know, compared to the fantasy loves of Sex In The City, Gray's Anatomy (which I thought was supposed to be about medicine) and Desperate Housewives (I've never watched a single episode of any of these shows) our story sounds kind of corny. But when I think back to those days, 42 years ago, it still brings a smile to my lips and tears to my eyes; just like it did when he handed me this card! I guess I love him as much as he loves me....ALMOST!
C-YA!

JUST PAPER - A MASCULINE CARD
If I had to pick a card design type that drives me crazy (after CAS, which will always be #1 in my book) I would have to say masculine cards. This week at The Outlawz, the Monday Greetings Challenge was to create a Masculine Card. This was my DT Card. Sometimes, I just like to make cards with nothing but paper and this was one of those times. As I was preparing for this challenge, I remembered that about six months ago I had purchased a scrapbook "scrap pak" at big lots for $5.00. There were 24 sheets of dp, cutouts, stickers, tags, the whole nine. It only took twenty minutes to totally destroy my studio, but I finally remembered where I put the pak. The most difficult part of the card was building up the top frame and lining up the recessed square so that all the words lined up. It is a really cool looking card in real life! You still have time to enter the challenge since it does not close until Midnight on Sunday! Good Luck!!
Supplies: Neenah Solar White CS, Colorplan Chocolate CS; Paper Crush - Scrap Pak, scor-tape; brand and mounting foam!

May You Be Comforted
Unfortunately, in the past week I have had to design two sympathy cards. Since I only have one stamp collection with sympathetic sentiments, I had to use design paper to enhance each design. I rarely repeat cards. The first card was designed for a co-worker who lost his mother-in-law.
Because this card was designed for a male, I tried to use a masculine dp and a simple sentiment.
This card was designed for my daughter to give to her manager. Because this card is being addressed to both the manager and his wife, and also because of their relative positions in the company, (He is the company President, my daughter is the Corporate Controller and VP of Finance and Accounting) I wanted a card that would be elegant and yet maintain the appropriate professional distance.
DEETS: Card 1- Neenah Solar White Linen CS, Recollections Printed Scrapbook paper; Image: Stampendous "Encouraging Words" collection; Sentiment: Heartfelt Creations' "Classic Message" set; Ink: Momento Rich Cocoa, Pearls: Want 2 Scrap
Card 2 - Colorplan Bagdad Brown CS, Neenah Classic Crest Baronial Ivory; Martha Stewart Designer Paper Pad, Recollections' "Fashionably Chic" Paper Pad; Image and Sentiment: Stampendous "Encouraging Words" collection; Momento Rich Cocoa Ink; Pearls: Want 2 Scrap

One of the things I love about The Outlawz Challenge Site, is the variety of challenges each week. When I first returned to stamping and card making last year, The Outlawz was the first, and for a while, the only site I visited. I was able to learn about the new trends in stamping, construction, and colors. I discovered all the new tools, etc., simply by participating in all of their challenges: Copics (even though I don't color well) Greetings (forced to to use sentiments, which I usually tried to avoid) CAS (helped me learn to develop better focals for my designs) Sketch (helped me understand construction and focals). Almost one year to the day that I joined Outlawz, I was invited to join their design team. It was something I wanted, but never dared to hope for. If you are a new card designer...Outlawz is the perfect place to learn and grow in an environment of encourgement and fun...You'll love it!!
Here is the Inspiration and the color swatch - give it a try!

Thanksgiving @ Guylou's
Hello, there,
My Teamies over at Guyloy's Inimitability have come up with terrific inspiration for this coming holiday season. I had to bring over the quote from Guylou's blog. It is wonderful and so perfect for this time!
As America's Thanksgiving is approaching, it is time to think about all the reasons to be thankful. Melody Beattie could have not said it better:
"Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow."

Give Thanks!
This week was my time to post a challenge as a new member of the Outlawz Design Team. To say I was nervous would be the understatement of the century! But I did it...with a little help from my friends. My Team Leader Angela and one of my Outlawz sistahs, Cindy, were on open chat, so it was "all good." My DH found this amazing turket and I just had to use it on my card.
I will probably do a few more turkey cards before Thanksgiving! We'll C-Ya!

STASH AND TRASH
November is my self-declared "Stash and Trash" month. My goals is to use all of my left over paper, ribbons, embellies, etc., on a second project BEFORE they are consigned to Stash Oblivion. This is my first project for the month!
The "Dream" Label holder was the original project. I created it for StampTV's Mix It Up Monday Challenge, but I did not have enough time to make the challenge. I decided to make the holder anyway as a gift for the Physician Asssistant-Student who's Pediatric rotation in my office is ending this week a closer look below

It took a minute for me to decide what to put on my labels. Most of the holders in the challenge had a X-mas theme, but my PA-S is Jewish, so I decided to create all occassion tags.
This card served two purposes for me; it is a companion piece to the tag holder and it is also my submission to the Outlawz Sketch Challenge.

TRASH AND STASH
The Greeting Card Challenge at Outlawz this week is "Recycle Plus A Sentiment" I made a Trio of Cards. I always welcome a chance to get rid of Stash and Trash.
The two cards above were used with scraps from Mauve Sprockets a submission to Mojo Monday!
This card was made from stash and trash remains of Golden Collage. The background paper is remnant of a large sheet that I stamped to create my collage. The Ribbon Embellishment is actually a bookmark that can be detached by the receipient!
Thanks for stopping by! C-YA!
